Auto message from 415-506-2397 left a message stating it was Julie Smith from the Internal Revenue service telling me not to disregard this message and I owned money to the IRS.

I've gotten 3 phone calls from this same number. My cell phone caller ID says San Francisco/North Bay Area. Today they called at 6am Pacific Time...pretty sure the IRSisnt working that early! Figured it was a scam!

Received the same voicemail message.

Can any of you advise if you indeed have any pending balances to the IRS as I do, however, never received a call like this before. I am a little nervous this could be legit, however do not want to give information in the event  it is fraud.

I received many calls on to my cell phone from this very same number. The voice did mimic an african american lady " Julie Smith" . For fun, after reading all of your messages, I called this # a few times and hung up everytime. There was a guy sounded like either Indian / Pakistani or Malaysian origin - each time he had a different name.  I will try Sunday early morning CA time 2am and see what happens.... Well all these IRS people might not be sleeping.... or I want to check just that.

I am going to tell them next time.... I am a FBI agent as well and what they want.....!!!

SCAM and BIG SCAM.... might be doing for just giggles.. any thoughts???

Please DO NOT let these people worry you. NOBODY should call anyone about any pending money. Anyone can pretend as someone else. DO NOT WORRY... many people owe money to the IRS..... This is NOT new.  Everything must be in a written format.  You must NEVER give any personal information - cell phone, name, SS # etc and never acknowledge  who you are to anyone on the phone.  Ask them to see you in person...!!

So..... I suggest... play it safe. DONOT  give out any information. For fun... just say that you are an IRS agent youself. Or even.... say you are a Federal Officer if you have to.  Or make fun of them on the phone... That would be their last try. Good luck.

We are getting the same calls in Oregon, called and inquired about the nature of their business, they hung up on me. Again it sounded like an Indian man who answered, said they were part of IRS investigative unit.
