- Dean replies to Wells| 1 replyI got a call from 1-415-506-2511 and a message was left from "Jonny Washington". He said it was extremely urgent to call back and do not disregard the message. I tried to find this number on google, but didn't until later, but did look up IRS scams. Anyways, he called a few hours later and I demanded to know when I filed my taxes and how much I owed. He didn't know and then I asked why I should not have him arrested. Then I was saying to him that I was not going to tell him Jack sh##, but just as I was saying the colorful metaphor, the call was mysteriously disconnected from his side.
I rarely use this kind of language. I guess this call stressed me out a little. The funny thing is that I actually was on a teleconference call with a customer from work with several other people and as he was hanging up, it switched over to the other call. Fortunately, they did not hear the last word said.
Anyways, thanks for informing about this number and sorry for venting. - MkingI got a call from them too and a recording.
- Caller: Irs
- charlene replies to Mohmmmad DmohasinIt's a scam! IRS doesn't ask for Walmart debt card! Hang up! You would have received a ton of notices in the mail! If you owe the IRS money.
- JimGot same message for my wife. Funny it would be for my wife and not both since we file jointly. Anyway, obviously a scam, but I wonder how they got the number for my wife. Sounds like they were able to get the phone #s somewhere. And yes, while our phone # is published, why would they have picked her name instead of mine.
- KSI got two phone calls from 415-506-2511. Asking me to call them, when I called back a gentleman named Mike answered. I asked him when did I call in and why, He told me that I have called in IRS and so I asked when did IRS Moved to California from Washington DC and when did IRS started calling customers for taxes owed instead of sending US Mail. He just got upset and threatened to send me to jail and cancel my drivers' licence. I also told him, if he knew which state i lived in and he replied yes he knoew I live in Kansas but in reality I live in Michigan.
- Indian GuySame number same message. What gave it away for me was an Indian calling about IRS and threating to take legal action. In my limited knowledge all govt agencies do snail mail. Then I did the number search sure enough I am not the only one who received this message.
- Caller: 415-506-2511
- TiffLike the other callers on this page, I received a voicemail from a man with a VERY thick Indian accent. The number showed up as San Francisco/North Bay area, but it would only be 5:30am there right now.
I would like to know if anyone else receiving these calls banks with Huntington Bank? The call came to my cell phone but was actually for my dad. I recently assumed power of attorney over him, but Huntington Bank is the only institution I have given my number to in that capacity. I just want to make sure this isn't a sign that Huntington's system has been breached.- Caller: claimed to be the IRS
- Rick replies to Robert| 2 repliesYes I have same experience and almost got heart attack this morning
- PopYep - I got the same phone call and couldn't understand a single thing she said but IRS. I called the number and it hung up on me.
- HmmmmGot. Call from Indian guy named "Daniel Brown from the IRS. For my ex husband and they only had his initial not first name. Total scam.

I'm so glade to here this was a joke and pray no one else get cought up in this mess. PS I was meeting my husband at the police station. we both can home without going inside the station.
- Slim replies to Diana>> I'm so glade to here this was a joke <<
Diana -
It wasn't a joke. It was a scam.
If you sent the money, it would have disappeared.
Please try to distinguish between a "joke" and a "scam". The latter is MUCH more harmful! - joe| 1 replyA guy with a heavy Somalian accent (Somalian [***] as usual) claiming to be Brian Cruz from "Internal Investigation of the IRS" called from this number asking to speak to my sister. He knew her full name and that she had received her tax return. I don't how he got this information. He told me that she needed to call him back at this number urgently.
the frequency of these calls is getting worse. Verizon recently switch our home phone line to voip. Could that a reason for the increased phishing calls? It's easier to be untraceable, isn't it? idk. I've read that all providers plan to ditch pots for voip. With all the data they're collecting by means of ignoring the 4th amendment... you'd think they'd could at least put it to good use and do something about these calls. I fear we can't do anything because calls originate outside the US. Somali scum - ANonieMouse replies to joe>>> With all the data they're collecting by means of ignoring the 4th amendment... you'd think they'd could at least put it to good use and do something about these calls. <<<
They ARE doing something about it. The government puts out all sorts of press releases warning people about these scams and where to file an official report to complain about them. But somehow, these get pushed back and never covered on the local news, because it has nothing to do with murders, rapes, dogs and cats chased up trees, who was drafted for the local sports teams, etc. It doesn't make the national network news broadcasts, because people are much more interested in which celebrities are pregnant, what they are wearing on the Oscars, and how much cleavage they are showing or where their tattoos are. And it doesn't make the cable news networks because they are all about politics and political pundits can't reframe this issue into a suitable for an us vs. the other party conflict.
Then, of course, I'm sure that a lot of this data collection is put to much more trivial use than preventing people from annoying you, such as trying to find out what the Russians are really up to in Ukraine and whether World War III is at hand. - Ohio guyGot a call from this number this morning and a message saying I will face legal action if I ignore it. I called back, got a "mailbox can not receive messages" bit, called back again and they hung up, called back again and a guy answered the phone and said...in an Indian accent..."hello can I help you" told them I got a message and they asked for my phone number. Gave him that and he told me the wrong ssn...DEF A SCAM!! REPORTING TO LOCAL POLICE!!
- Kasey CPAGot a call at 650am EST today. Miss Susan Brown, def from India, asked for my husband by name. Said to have him call 415-506-2511 and ask fro Callen Peterson from the IRS. The caller ID said Novato CA.
I am a CPA, IRS doesn't work this way.
Thanks GOOGLE for having such sites :) - MohammadSomebody named Daniel, Called 2 times this morning around 7 am in my home phone. First time my wife didn't picked the phone but second time she picked. The guy ( refer himself as Daniel) telling my wife he is calling from IRS and asked me to call back within 6 PM today about TAX issue. I checked the no in the internet and discussed with my friend about this. I found out it is a scam and decided not to call back.
- Caller: Caller Mentioed IRS
- steemsnjI also got a call from this number two days ago! He said his name was Chris Rogers from IRS but he had a heavy Indian accent...that really gave it away. Cant we report these people? Its ridiculous. My ID said Norvato, CA.
- RBusYup, message left on my answering machine - could barely understand what she was saying - I figured something was up, so I entered the number into Google and this string came-up. I feel bad for people who actually fall for this.
- Won't Be ScammedI received 2 calls from this number "(415) 506-1303 San Francisco/North Bay Area" this morning on my cell. I don't answer unknown numbers, and since the first call would have been about 7:30AM California time, I knew this was fishy. Both times a voice sounding like a computer generated woman's voice claiming to be agent Smith with the Internal Revenue Service left a number and said not to disregard the call or further action would be taken. I will be reporting this to the actual IRS.
