Just got a call from this number (I didn't answer) & CID said "out of area".  Googled it and something showed up as Decoydigits.  The information said if you don't want your number showing up use ours instead.  Is this going to be the latest scam technique?

This is not a scam. If you put an ad on Craigslist for the first time this is the voice number that will call you back for you to enter your code to validate your advertisement. If you had checked the box for text message then you would have received a text message with the validation code.

It is possible that "person A", posting on Craigslist, mistyped their number.
When the validation request goes out, "person A" never gets it, but the person who has the number gets the text or voice call.

A text verification code is sent,  I had just put an ad on Craigslist ,  and CL said they would send a code.  Everything took less than 5 min!

This number comes from a craigslist identity theft scam, domain was vtpagroup.org or vtpgroup.org. The website is hosted in Russia. You reply to a CL ad, they email you a link, you click the link and fill out a form including a phone number, you get a call from 415-610-5110 with a five digit code to continue the form on their website. The point of all this is we DID NOT place a job ad on craigslist or hire this company to do so. They made a fake job posting for the purposes of identity theft.

I got a call from this number at 3:30 am!!!

I've been getting calls from this number saying it is CL and another number saying it is google. These are scams of some sort. I am not posting ads or creating accounts with either service.

I have never used Craigslist. Why are they calling me... Scam?

Number calls, answered and no response on the other end just some tones. Hang up they called back I did not answer.  The number called three times in one week. I think this is some kind of scam as I haven't used any ad services of CL or Google.

Feels like a live number verification scam.

This number belongs to Craiglist. It's the number they send verification codes to when posting in adult sections. It works like this.

You contact the person or they contact you and you give your phone number
They create a new account for posting their spam crap using your number for verification
You can get he call from Craigslist with the verification code
You pass on this verification code to the target and use it to confirm their posting

Well done, you have now allowed the spammer to create a new account using your phone number for verification. NEVER EVER give out a verification code received via this number.

This "is" Craigslist validation code that either comes to you Text or Call, whichever you click on in their website.

Its a call from Criags list----- giving you your secrect code for your listing to be able to repost

Yes, this is Craigslist ad verification. I placed an ad this afternoon and had to go through their verification system. I got a call from them almost immediately.
