Getting the same phone calls like everyone else with the same name of Julie Smith with IRS.  Scammer leaving messages on answering machine to call back or legal action will be taken.  Received the first one about a week ago and twice this morning.

Would the IRS call you on a Saturday 3 times within a 3 hour period and when you return the call they dont offer their badge number the way they do when you have called the IRS before - the real IRS ALWAYS provides their badge number when answering a call.  This is a TOTAL SCAM - screw these [***].

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Received two calls from this number today - the first at 8:30 in the morning, and again at 10:45.  Caller ID reports it as "California" so I knew no one is calling me on the East Coast from the West Coast that early!  Sounds like a cell phone - automated recording tells you to call back pending litigation or something and speak to "Julie Smith" - quoting this number as "a direct line to her business" which is NOT something the IRS would refer to itself as, LOL!  I called back anyway and some guy with an accent answered the call, but was breaking up so badly I couldn't get any clear info to pursue prosecuting the caller(s).  Ignore the call.  But report it.  It's fraud.  The IRS contacts by mail and does NOT need info from you.

They called our home twice today within a 2 hour time frame. My daughter answered and handed the phone to me once she heard IRS. The man had a heavy accent and was sarcastic and abusive once he realized I wasn't buying his crap.

Do what I have been doing with these guys, I've been calling them 40/50 times a day having fun with them now they hang up on me The minute they hear my voice they are located in India, One of them spilled the beans he  said they make around $2000 a day from poor panicking individuals, (just to let you know the IRS communicate only Through the US mail they do not call you for money.)

    >> Do what I have been doing with these guys, I've been calling them 40/50 times a day <<

    Definitely NOT a good suggestion!

If the call was from a scammer, calling back merely did one or more of the following:

    * Verified your phone number, and that it would be answered by a human.
    * Possibly incurred international calling charges (some scammers are located in Jamaica [876] and other overseas locations)
    * Bothered somebody not associated with the scam - scammers can spoof what you see on the Caller ID!
    * If the call was from a telemarketer, your call to them could be interpreted as starting a "business relationship", so the telemarketer could legally continue to call you!
    * Added your phone number to a list that is sold or shared among scammers of various types, so even more would try to call you.
    * And, if you argued with the caller, or otherwise irritated them, they might decide to spoof YOUR number in future calls, so YOU would get irate callbacks from other people.   <<<<<<<<<<<

Instead of calling back, either ignore the call or get a call blocker to prevent further calls from that number!  (Remember, the DNC list can stop or limit calls from legitimate telemarketers ... but not from telescum).

Same thing happened to me. I got a VM that said to call back immediately. Then I called back and some guy with thick Indian accent answered "Hello IRS, can I help you." After some quick back and forth, he became frustrated that I was asking for his manager and what division within IRS he worked in. He actually yelled at me, saying "Stop it, I am working in IRS." At which point I hung up. A$$holes!

    The voice message:

Issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My Officer Julie Smith from Internal Revenue Service and the hotline to my division is 415-926-4147. I repeat it's 415-926-4147. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care.

Its a scam as far as I know the IRS will not call you, don't fall it! They will try and trick you! IRS will only contact you by mail! Do not send them any money! Sounds also like false representation of a officer! Contact - FTC, A.G., Local law enforcement.
