Just answered a call from this number and it was the same warranty scam as the recent calls I received from an international (US) number. Not sure how they found my phone number (I'm on Telus) and if anyone finds out how to block these calls it would be great to hear.

Getting calls from this number as well - in Toronto.  Phone companies please put a stop to this!!!

Very good idea to change ringtone so we know not to pick up spam calls more than once. Would be nicer if the phone just wouldn't ring at all, though!

I wonder what would happen if the PM get this phone call.  Maybe someone will do something about this scam.

ive been getting calls from many different numbers reciently. i also had a 4am blocked id call, but who knows what thats about. they called at 12:00 on the nose

gotten a few calls about car insurance from various numbers in toronto... first started about 2 weeks ago. i wonder if the rogers family got these calls during the funeral.

I have received two called in the past 2 business days from 416 000 5597. I am a Toronto Solo mobile customer.
Reminds me of the Simpsons episode with Homer and the autodialer.

i keep getting calls every day for the last week from 416-000-5597. i tried calling back but they say number is no longer in service.

Come to think of it, we only received about a handful of telemarketer/scam calls in YEARS of cell use - and then we signed on to the DO NOT CALL list.

I would like to suggest that if you have not yet registered with the Canadian DO NOT CALL LIST ....
               ...... DON'T DO IT - you will be inundated with these types of calls

I live in Ontario. This number 416-000-5597 called me twice last week. I answered when it called a third time and nobody spoke, but i did say hello. Came upon this site and saw whats been happening. Later on in the day, I received a call from 571-261-0113 which is an area in the state of Virginia. I didn't answer because if this is a scam, i predict the 416-000-5597 is the beginning. If you answer the phone when the 416 number calls, then they know somebody owns the phone. I don't know anyone in Virginia, so that's another reason I didn't bother answering. My small advice, keep yourself updated by checking up numbers that call you and you don't know who they are, or just don't answer to ppl you don't know. Hope fully this helps others as this site helped me big time.

just like everyone, i got a call today at abour 1:50 pm toronto time from 1 416 000 5597
accidently answered the call cuz i was in college and the phone rang in class
it is a pure scam cuz after a while when i called back it said not in service.. which pissed me off...
P.S. iv been recieving the auto warranty expiry calls quite often...
i did take it down to the police, but they said they cannot help it..
the worst part is that these calls come in at 2 or 3am in the morning

best solution: dont answer calls that look suspicious or that yyou are not expecting and while giving ur phone number to someone, always get their calling number so you know who it is!! that is what im doing now.. and trust me .. its working pretty good for me!

Just as many people have been reporting with the 1-416-000-XXXX, I got one from 1-416-000-4848 telling me my auto insurance is about to expire. I'm sure this will probably open the flood gates to them for the fact I answered the phone. Why aren't there strict laws against these scams?

This is ridiculous, I've been receiving calls from all these numbers and it's a good thing I don't answer. But I am frustrated that they won't stop calling me.

Called me twice in two hours, but I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize it. As a rule, I don't pick up numbers I don't recognize or in this case, look fake - 000, really?

i noticed i had a missed call on my cell and when i looked at it, it was 416-000-1397. This was on Feb 23rd at 11:56 am. I live in ontario and i know 416 is Toronto, i tried calling it later on and it just rang and rang.
