This is CAI out of defiance, Ohio, they pester you to no end for medical debts, even if you have someone elses phone. the only way i have seen people get them to stop if it IS the wrong number is to SHOW UP at their office and demand it.

The post from bithcplease on page 1 of this site must be from the company's owner. What a nut job. These people are trying to collect a debt from us that is almost 15 years old! What a buncha goobs. I smell a class action law suit brewing!

All of you need to simply report them to the FTC and file a complint under their various Unfair Debt Collection avenues and fraud activities sections.

They call 2 or 3 times a month and never state for whom they are calling.  The debtor is the person who used to have the number but nobody believes me.

I have no doubt that some medical company would turn in a debt. The hospital in my home town told me when I was there that it is standard procedure to sel to colectors if they are not contacted within three days of billing. They do not care that in tuff ecanomic times unexpected medical bills can not out way planed bills and that they will just have to take what they can get. Once these places know that they are calling the corect number then there is no need to be rude. If they siriouslly whant to tallk to someone they should dial the dam phone themselves, you should never anser the phone to pleas hold for the next available ass. I had never dodged a call untill the autamtid dialers started calling. I refuse to hold for someone calling me. I will not be talked to like a ignorent child or like I have stolen something. allso the next time that I ask for acount numbers or a name anything that is legally required to be produced and it is refused, and I am told I am not a lawyer. My lega prowas will be tested. I am not a lawyer but I know a few. Medical bills do not consern me when food shelter and basic needs come first.

These are the rudest people I have ever receved a call from. I think it should be ilegal to ansewer the phone to here, Please Hold For An Imprtant Buisness Matter, An ASS. Will Be With You In A Moment. I did no buisness with them in the first place. I know that some medical provider is has claimed I would not pay, even though my insurance has payed a small fortune and I could not afored the monstorus monthly payment they wanted. They could have taken what I was paying and eventually got payed, but nooo they sold the debt to some #%$ @#$#$ that think they will make me talk to them by being rude. This is the south they just dont understand how maners work around here, or that I would rather dribel a basketball through a mine feild, or slide down a creasout light pole naked than to give them the satisfaction of talking to there rude rearends.

CAI is another bottom-feeder, scum-sucker who buys OLD debts (usually for $.05 to about $.20 on the dollar) then bothers the hell out of people HOPING to get some, if not all, of the money from you.  The original bill has already gone to collection (on your credit report), it has already been in collection for quite a while (on your  credit report)and these pathetic financial vampires cannot hurt your credit anymnore than it already has been hurt and IF YOU ARE DUMB ENOUGH TO PAY THEM...they will take their SWEET SLOW TIME submitting any proof of payment to credit bureau (if at all).
Everyone who works for one of these companies deserves (for either themselves or a loved one) to be stricken with SEVERE catastrophic illness which wipes them out financially, spiritually & morally, THEN suffer dealing with these RUDE, NASTY, INSENSITIVE, HUMAN EQUIVALENTS OF TAPEWORMS!  I found a GREAT letter online, which if properly sent will put them out of action.

I received a call from 419-782-6838 asking me to return the call I cannot remember the exact message but it was something along the line of "Please call us back, this is not a sales call we have important information for you"

The number given was 866-875-8734, when I returned the call they had a machine inform me it was no longer a working number and to call 800-433-3459

There I contacted a live person who explain they are a company that tries to help people in debt, and that his best guess was I was called by mistake as I do not currently have a debt issue. He seemed polite, and that was the end of it.

So no fear guys, just politely say thank you but no thank you and move on.

I also receive at least 5 calls a day from these people.  They don't leave their name or a message.  It's very annoying.

These people call my home 5 times a day or more looking for someone.  But they never leave a message.  I answered it once and there was no one on the other end.  Nothing more frustrating than running to the phone and finding out no one is there.

I received one of these calls, but the only medical bill I received is because the hospital billed my two insurance companies incorrectly, and so some of the charges were not covered. Dispite the fact that I gave them very spicifc instructions on how to avoid this situation.

They all cry about managed care, but none of them want to actually manage it.

There are conditions that come up where I assume a call is a scam.

1. The caller's number is not valid, or is private - I hang up
2. The caller refuses to identify themselves or the agency they work for. If they are doing lagitimate business, then there is no reason for them to hide their identity. - I hang up
3. The caller refuses to give me an address for me to send paperwork to them.  If they are in error, how am I going to send them legal documents to prevent them from falsely harrassing me? - I hang up
4. I am unable to confirm any lagitimacy to the bill they are indicating.  For this reason, I only deal with original creditors. Period. - I instruct the caller that I wish to resolve it with the original creditor and I would like them to cease communications.

I had the same problem with a credit card that was paid off in 2003. A debt collector, Portfolio Recovery, started pestering us in April 2009 to pay it off and was very nasty to me whenever they called and come to find out that what they were doing was illegal. You can call them to find out the date that the last payment was paid and if it was over 7 years, then it is over the statue of limitions for collecting on a debt no matter if it is a credit card or medical bills, etc. I had to get legal help on this. For your type of problem with them trying to collect on your medical bill that is 15 yrs old, it is way past the statue of limitations. What you can do is get their address and write them a letter stating to stop calling and if they want to corresponde with you, to do it in writing. Also tell them that they are past the statue of limitation and if they try to collect on it, you will start legal proceedings to stop their harrassment. I work with someone now that used to work for a collection agency and she told me to do what I stated above. They just sent me a letter recently stating that they will not be pursueing collecting on this bill. I also reported them to the FTC.

Calls anywhere from 7 AM Sunday morning to 9:30 at night. Don't know who they are or what they want. It is just a recorded call. At least they should say who they are and what they want.

This number has called me 20 times since 9:30 this morning.  That is every 10 minutes.  I have spoken with these "fine, upstanding individuals" several times and it isn't my debt they are trying to collect.  They apologize everytime I talk to them, but still continue to call.  I wish I could block specific calls from coming into my cell phone like you can text messages.  ANY OF THE CELLULAR COMPANIES READING THIS???

I have no clue who or what these people want but they called me today "Sun" Dec 13th 2009 and it was a recording that said there was an inportant MESSAGE for me then said sorry the office is not open today.I thought collection people could not call on Sundays.My  number is on the do not call list as well can anybody help me with this?here is the number
