- Amy WeinheimerAsked for phone number and said IRS had a lawsiut against me.
- HellHammerJust got a call from 1-425-296-1450. The answering machine picked it up and a robotic female voice told me the IRS has a lawsuit against me. I immediately spotted BS and hit the stop button. The IRS will not dial your phone number and leave a recorded message about a lawsuit. They love paper trails and will contact you through the mail. This is clearly a phishing scam and they only need 1% of the people they robo dial to fall for it and wire them money.
- Ginger| 1 replyWell, I got a garbled message about a lawsuit being filed. No case number, no attorney name, nothing. So, I called the number back, and a woman with a heavy Pakistani or Indian accent said, "Officer ? (I couldn't understand the name)". She said that my daughter- who hasn't worked more than three months since 2008- owed $2500 in back taxes for 2009-2014. I asked her how an unemployed person could owe taxes, especially that amount. She just kept repeating herself. I asked for a supervisor, so a man with a similar accent gets on the phone and says that he's going to send the IRS police (not agents, POLICE) to arrest her, seize her bank accounts (she has none), seize all her properties (she has none, not even a car), etc. I told him all this, and mentioned that due to her being mentally ill, I am handling all her business and he still wanted to talk to her. She doesn't live with me, but I sure didn't give him her address. He kept threatening, insisted that the 425 number was a toll-free number, and that he was sending someone to arrest her tonight. Good luck with that; she's not answering her phone right now, she doesn't live with me. Trust me- that's one call he doesn't want to make, anyway. I kept telling these people she had no income, has had no income for years, owns nothing, and still they kept threatening arrest.
- allathey left garbled message that i have a law suit filed against me.

- CharlotteJust got a call from 1-425-296-1450. Caller ID read Out of Area so I let the answering machine picked it up and it was a recorded female voice saying that IRS was filing a lawsuit against me. Totally a scam of some sort.

- melwe got the call today from same number with same message. called back, got someone that can't speak english, she put her supervisor on, he wouldn't talk to me only my husband, so after my husband got on the phone, things got really bad and he told them where to go & what that could do & go ahead & send the cops...they put us on hold & then disconnected with us

- CarolI got call yesterday and returned it today and it was exactly like the above post. He told me he would be signing a warrant for my arrest but never told me what I needed to do. I ask why I hadn't gotten anything in the mail and he sad they had been to my door in November and December of 2014 and tried to deliver it and finally left it at my door and took a picture of it. Sure it is a scam but still a little unnerving.
- Caller: IRS
- DianneI received the same call. Left nsg on answering machine. It was as if the first part if the msg was cut off where the person they were lookng for should have been. Called back and no answer. Think I will also report it to the IRS. Maybe every one thay gets this call should do the same so they will know hiw serious it is and they can shut them down. The elderly is most vulnerable. THE JERKS.
- Caller: IRS THEY SAID

- Lynn| 1 replyWhen the caller ID said 'unknown caller' I didn't answer...I listened to the voice mail....same thing... garbled and that I was being sued by the IRS....right, like I'm going to call that number and fall for that bogus crap.
- GailI also got call from an unknown number, with a message on my answering machine to call 425-296-1450 because the "IRS" is suing me! I was curious, so I called the number and a woman with a heavy accent answered and asked for my phone #. She said her name was "Officer Nicole" and rattled off some Badge ID number. She said i owed the IRS some $3000+ and that they would take my drivers license away, seize my property and bank accounts, etc. She asked me if I had just made a miscalculation on my taxes, from 2009 - 2013, or if I was intentionally trying to cheat the government! I told her that I knew this was a scam, and that I haven't gotten anything in the mail from the IRS. She asked if my address was still ________ and said they have sent three letters already, and put a yellow slip on the door, but had not heard back from me, so now I am in a lot of trouble with them! LOL... I told her again that the call was fraudulent, and that I will talk to the IRS if I get a letter from them, and hung up. I called back a few minutes later, and the same woman answered the phone, stating INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE, just like the first time. (Like you would get the same person twice at the IRS, without using a specific extension!) It's definitely BS! I hope no one is falling for this!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. - JrlIRS never calls - they send letters. Also, it is not the Internal Revenue Services but the Internal Revenue Service. Wish the Justice Dept would get involved
- SusanThis is a scam. They left a voice mail while I was out of town. I did call them and the same thing happened. They said that I needed to stay on the phone or the police would show up and take my drivers license and freeze my bank account. They give you a fake case number. They kept asking us to settle on the phone to avoid the Sherriff. We called our lawyer while still on the phone with them. Again the IRS will never contact you by phone and will contact you by mail and give you the opportunity to settle or negotiate They will also call you about 30 minutes after you call. Do not pick up the phone.
