They keep calling they ask for some one that I don't know.
If anyone interested in starting legal action against this group let's start and have them shutdown.
What they are trying is to find someone that is old or doesn't understand and get personal info and credit card information this is a scam group

Never threaten a lawsuit you can not backup..You made be sued for such actions and have to pay for the other parties legal fees.

That might be good advice most of the time, but we're talking about a phone scammer here.  If they want to sue you they are going to have to admit that they were the ones on the other end of the line... using a spoofed number and making harassing hang-up calls to you and thousands of other people.  If this is really a debt collector they can most definitely be sued for these things and they will be the ones paying any legal fees.

The FBI and other LEA's already know who what and where they are. They will do nothing about any of this. After researching these guys several times over the last five years and turning then in to law enforcement over and over, I have come to the conclusion that they are in reality either the CIA or some other government agency or they are being used as a cover for same. Either that our they belong to a high ranking politician like Harry Reed, Nancy Pelosi, or Boorock Oderama himself!

Unfortunately the FBI doesn't seem to be interested in debt collection fraud, because it's too hard to prove a criminal case.  The bogus debts are laundered through so many shell companies that no one can say where they originated.  The collector probably has a good idea that the debts are fraudulent, but if challenged he can claim that he was duped by someone farther up the chain.

It's much easier to prove a civil case, and that could be prosecuted by the FTC, CPFB, or state attorney general.  Since this "local office" case appears to involve caller ID fraud and illegally calling cell phones, the FCC has a stake in the matter as well.  Unfortunately, again, all of these agencies are underfunded and it takes literally thousands of complaints before they do anything.  The enforcement of the debt collection and telephone harassment laws has been left to private attorneys, so about all you can do is track down the perpetrator and file an individual lawsuit.

The really sad part is that some people are so desperate to rebuild their credit history that they will believe what some stranger tells them on the phone.  Never mind that the call is coming from a spoofed number, or that a simple internet search on the company shows hundreds of complaints.  As long as a few people are this naive, the rest of us will be dealing with these calls for a long time to come.

You get their mailing address and write them a letter, reporting them to the Better Business Bureau of their area and yours and to the Do Not Call Registry.  Sometimes they just require a written notification.  Usually this works.  Good luck.

Leaving messages claiming they are with the IRS and to return call to prevent any further action.  When number is called back, the phone just rings and no one answers.  No voice mail either.

Received call from 469.304.9862 on 11/25/14 @ 2:49pm. Caller ID reflected as unknown. I have answered a couple of their calls in the past, verified I was not the debtor (Patty Rice) they were attempting to collect from and asked them to update their records accordingly. Additionally, I advised the CSR that my phone number is listed in the White pages and if they would do their due diligence prior to attempting to call, they would realize the number is not their intended target and also at a different physical address. I have been reassured repeatedly that their records would be updated and my number removed from the record. Lies, lies and more lies. When I reported them, I received a lame response from Feds. POS.
Patty Rice - pay your damn bills!!  Fed - enforce the dam laws. I am on the Do Not Call registry and sick and tired of getting unsolicited calls from all types of businesses and scammers.

It is likely that "Patty Rice" doesn't owe the money either, and she is just as much of a victim as you are.

They called me, and didn't leave a message. I called back, and the rep that answered was very courteous. I told her that I had received a call from the number, but was on another call and couldn't answer, so I was calling back to see what they wanted. She said she was trying to reach somebody (not me), and I told her (truthfully) that I've had this phone number for only three months, and that the person she's trying to reach is probably someone who had the number previously. I assured her that I didn't know the person they were trying to reach, and she said that she'd remove the number from their database.

It seems to me that it would be a common occurrence for people who don't pay their bills to change phone numbers. If they continue to call me, then I will change my review, but it seemed like an honest mistake to me.

Called at 7:30am this morning. They never leave a message so I don't know who they are. Reading here I see they are possibly a debt collector but could be scammers. With so much number spoofing it's difficult to say but I'd sure like that $1000 for them violating the FDCPA.

It doesn't do any good to tell them that they are calling the wrong number.  They will give you their word that they will remove your number from their database but they don't.  I have been getting calls from them for several months....they just called again a few minutes ago.  No matter what you tell them or how nice you are or how mean you are or how much you threaten them, they will keep calling.

They called weeks ago everyday. I finally called them and found out who they were calling for which is no one I know. They removed my number. Today they're at it again.

aa - I have received calls from multiple debt collection agencies on my home landline number for Patty Rice, thus I highly doubt she is a "victim". 1) One of the collectors shared some of her PII. When I checked the white pages online, my number had been previously been assigned to Patty Rice and her associated location listed matched that shared by the collection agency. 2) Further, I received numerous calls from the school nurse, school principal elementary school teachers regarding Ms' Rice's daughter  as well as numerous robo calls from the school district regarding upcoming events and inclement weather notifications impacting school openings and releases. The woman's poor daughter obviously had medical issues that needed attention evidenced by the numerous calls left by the school nurse when her daughter needed to be picked up early from school on several occasions. It was heartbreaking to receive multiple calls in a single day knowing the poor girl was not getting the medical attention needed. In my mind, that qualifies as a form of child abuse (neglect). For over 2 years, those calls came when I was at work and there was no way to leave a message for staff after hours. Those calls stopped only after I took time from work to speak with the school principal.  3) Finally, Patty Rice submitted a resume to Fidelity which included her old phone number. How do I know? Somebody from Fidelity's HR department left a voice mail on my answering machine for Patty Rice offering her a position in response to her resume. My VM announcement clearly states my phone number and I also called Fidelity at the number provided and confirmed my current phone number was in fact the number they were attempting to contact applicant Patty Rice as per her recently submitted resume. So, do I feel badly about calling out an irresponsible person? Not in the least.  As I see it, the only victims here are me, her daughter and the folks who were not paid by Ms. Rice.

Just received another call from 469.304.9862 (1/22/2015 @ 11:46 am). Since my post in Nov 2014, also received calls from 469.304.9862 on 1/2/2015 @ 12:07 pm, 12/23/2014 @ 3:34 pm; 12/17/2014 @ 2:03 pm; 12/11/2014 @ 3:00 pm; 12/8/2014 @ 1:19 pm. There may have been more but that is as far back as my records reflect at this time. I have not answered any of the recent calls. I previously notified the collection agency that I am not the debtor they are attempting to contact and was assured they would update their records accordingly. However, they have obviously failed to do so and their harassment continues unabated. The Do Not Call Registry is worthless. The feds mailed a written response to me indicating there was nothing they could do. Seems that agency should be defunded as it is failing to live up to its mandate.

M - Please let me rephrase. "Patty Rice" may be a debtor, but she probably owes nothing to this specific caller. You can see from the other complaints that something is fishy (or should I say "phishy") about these calls, starting with the bogus "local office" caller id. And as you've learned, the Do Not Call list is useless for dealing with debt collection harassment. It is a totally different law (FDCPA) that is being violated.
