These are scum sucking debt collectors. Called 6 times in the past week. Every time a different jerk calls. They are looking for a person I have no idea who it is. Told them that and to stop calling and they just keep calling. Want to serve me legal papers. So I told them go ahead make my day. Come on over and my 2 German Shepard's will be waiting at the front door.

They have not called us from this number in weeks, though have called a couple of times since from 2 different numbers. They are incredible. And please, never think that they are debt collectors. They are not. They are, apparently, just some group of crooks posing as an intermediary for supposed debt collectors.

Do NOT be fooled.

They call us fairly regularly (but now only once a week scaled down from daily) with the same script asking for the same name of a person who doesn't live at this number. Never heard of this person they are asking for. Even so, if the person DID exist at this number, it would still be a scam. They just pluck names and phone numbers out at random, toss out a line and hope to get a catch. Maybe this person once had our number and they have an old phone list. This is ALL over the internet. Just do a little research...it's really quite fascinating. They always have the same threat of legal papers being served "tomorrow". Funnily enough, no one ever comes....and why? Because it is a scam! Other people, who have maybe not been as vigilant as they should have been, have confirmed that someone with the same name lives at the premises. This is all they need. Apparently, they might then offer to take a payment over the phone to stop the papers being served. They have also sometimes threatened arrest to the person receiving their call and that a payment now over the phone can stop the arrest!

Debt collectors and legitimate legal agencies do not operate like this. Even if you HAVE debt, no one will call you before hand to tell you about legal documents being served. Nor can they threaten you with arrest.

So be smart and be brave. Do NOT let these people fool you. They take advantage of desperate people during tough times. Never give them any information. Just take down their details, tell them to never call again and report them to the FTC AND, most importantly, your State's Attorney. It may seem pointless to report them, but if everyone started reporting them then there is a greater chance of things being done. Apparently my state attorney is looking at them right now.

Don't be apathetic. Do something about them. Sure, no one is coming to deliver these imaginary papers so no one is concerned with threats of attack dogs or worse...these are hollow, worthless threats and solutions. But you can rest assured that the calls will NOT stop unless you get a little bit pro-active about this. The more people who stand up to them, report them and let them KNOW that we will not be pushed around, the more likely this will stop.

I could not agree more with this post, but may I add a couple things:

1.  Report this number to your local police, state police and even federal marshals
2.  File with the FTC and Better Business Bureau (Just in case)
3.  Contact the FBI- trust me it works, as they are on this group as we speak

Reporting does and will help.  What these crooks are doing is 100% illegal and they could care less about the law because they are most likely spoofing a number when they call.  The FBI is tracing there calls and when they get the connection, the law will come calling.  Trust me, report and it will work..

They always say they are getting ready to serve you papers.  They aren't.  They want you to call a 1800 number with a reference number.  Tell them to go ahead and serve the papers- that your attorney want the physical evidence.  If you want, start asking them questions, i.e. physical address, company name, their name, tell them to NOT hang up, that this call is being traced.  See how fast they hang up!!!

Got a call from this number to me cell phone. Caller id says from tx, I live in ca. Didnt pick up call, they didn't leave msg.
1. Looked up number here.
2. Reported call to apporpriate authorities.
3. Added to my 'hang up' list on Mr Number app on my phone.
If they are calling your cell phone, download a free app called Mr. Number. They have it for android or iphone. The app lets you  hang up on any incoming calls from any numbers and also has a setting where it will hang up on a call from that number and never notify you, if you prefer. Let them call for days...you'll never know, and they'll continue to waste their time calling lol.

Tonight they called regarding "medications." I yelled at him for calling our home so late at night....so he didnt go through his " spiel," but he said it was regarding medications and I told him we are not nor ever will be interested. They have called before, offering prescription medications at reduced rates!

calls frequently distinct Indian accent can't understand exactly what male says but have made out American Pharmacy co? when I call it back goes to music and then hangs up after a minute or so.
