It's GoDaddy, people. I've had them call me twice from this number, both times after I had to cancel a credit card and my normal monthly billing failed. I thanked them for the call, then took care of it on the website.

There's absolutely no evidence of this being a scammer; if so, they are working hand-in-hand with GoDaddy, as I use domains by proxy and my information is *only* available directly from GoDaddy.

This was a legit call to let me know that my domain renewal payment had failed. My CC had recently been replaced, so the GoDaddy renewal failed. I gave them my CC number, the domain was renewed, all is good.

I'm not sure why some are calling this a scam. Could there be someone using CID spoofing using this number???

Just got a call from this number. The guy told me my website expired yesterday with godaddy and that they had trouble renewing it. Well my website is NOT with godaddy and isn't set to be renewed until 2011! He called me at WORK which is a number I never use with regards to my websites (seperate business) and he knew what my web address was called. He told me my credit card had probably expired and asked to verify my postal code, which I tried to, gave him my most recent two (stupid, I know) and he didn't have them in his system, at which point he asked for the pin for my account which I don't have. He was very persistant in trying to get a pin out of me but since there isn't a pin associated with my account I just told him that I couldn't remember it (I was very suspisious at this piont) and that I'd fix whatever was wrong with my account through the website. Of course, when I went to my webhost's website everything there was as it should be. I am pretty freaked out though, how did they get my work phone number???!

This was a call from GoDaddy about my hosting not renewing - I renewed my domain but goofed up and the hosting slipped through the cracks somehow. This call was TOTALLY legit. I gave my zip code when he called and he gave me my OWN credit card number, the last 4 digits of the one I'd used to renew my domain name, and everything else I asked for about my account (my domain name, my account number, even my password hint!). I was at work, so I said I'd call back to renew, and the guy said when anyone calls back they have to use their PIN or last 6 of a credit card. If you'll notice, when you call GoDaddy directly, they ask for that too.

To them referring to themselves as "Billing," and not GoDaddy when you call - call GoDaddy directly with the number from the website, until you are in the account they NEVER say they are GoDaddy.

Personally, I'd rather call this expired billing department and get someone right away than call the tech support number and wait on hold for 15 minutes!

This is a scam! Call GoDaddy yourself and give them this number.
Google it! You'll see! Hundreds of people have been "taken" by these scum bags!
DON'T give any information... Especially your credit card info!
You would be surprised at how many people would still buy stock in the Brooklyn Bridge if given the "opportunity"!

This is a legitimate phone number. I received a call from them months ago when my domain was about to expire, and this call renewed my domain. I just received a call from the same number and it was also go-daddy. This is a legitimate business number and it is listed on their support website. Google this number and "godaddy" and you will be linked to their official page.

I spoke with GoDaddy directly by calling their main sales department at (480) 505-8877 and asked them specifically about this number, and they said that it was a valid number and is for their Field Billing. Basically it's the team that tries to collect on overdue balances.. not exactly debt collectors, but apparently not the friendliest people either.

Just received a call from these guys about my website renewal.  NOT SCAMMERS.  I had received an email from godaddy yesterday saying my account was up for renewal, and the woman who called already had all of my credit card info on file and did NOT me to divulge any of it.  Unless Godaddy was hacked thoroughly, this obviously would not be possible.  Within 5 minutes of the call I had a receipt in my email from godaddy.com.  Went to the website to check my account, and that confirmed it, as well.

    This is legitimately godaddy.

Received a call from this number. The caller said he was from Godaddy. I told him I will call him back. After 10 minutes I called GoDaddy using the number listed on their website and they confirmed that they had called me earlier. Seems legit

It is from GoDaddy's Customer Development Team. They call all new customers as well as those with expiring items. They are legit and professional. They also call for other registrars that are really just selling GoDaddy products under a private label.

Having worked for GoDaddy I know this to be legitimate, and they are one of the best customer oriented companies you an find out there. And for the most part they treat their employees like rockstars too.

So interesting reading the comments here....  Read on:  Yes, it is GoDaddy.  Is it legitimate?  Yes AND No.   I looked up the number on this site because someone from this number called a customer of mine, who was confused by the phone call and called me.  See, I run a web company which offers domain registrations and we took over as this client's registrar from GoDaddy in 2008.  So is it a legitimate call?  Well, they are obviously going through a very old customer database and trying to woo any former clients back.
