If you thought it was a bogus call (you "never" had an account with GoDaddy) no this, if you have bought a domain with hundreds of different domain providers, odds are GoDaddy provides the service.  They are required not to give out specific company info until you have either validated into your account or you mention a company name.  Go Daddy says they are one of the largest hosting providers because all the companies that provide service through them also count towards their numbers.  There are some ways to tell a Go Daddy Reseller but not all are the same.  This is how they get conservatives to buy from them.

Valid call.  I hadn't picked up or returned the call (I verify all unknown numbers on this site first) but I did just update out of date credit card information on GoDaddy.com's website yesterday as the card had expired.  Based on the other messages posted on this forum, it makes perfect sense that they would be calling to inform me the renewal payment lapsed on the first attempt.  Since I got confirmation last night that the credit card update was successful and the domain has been renewed, I won't bother calling back.

THIS COMPANY IS NOT "GO DADDY" They use Go daddy's name without permission to sell you their [***]!!!! BEWARE !!!!

This number is from VERY SNEAKY SCAMMERS and is associated with competing domain registrars. All the entries here that say it is legitimate are most likely written by the same scammers. Don't believe them!

Here are the exact words of the voicemail I got from this number: "Hello, this is Larry. I'm calling from GoDaddy because we have a problem with the billing for your account. If you would like for your services with us to remain active, please call. The number is 480-366-3333. Thanks."

Since I am a customer of GoDaddy, I called the real billing account number (480-505-8855, which is listed plainly on GoDaddy.com) several times. Each time, the representative said there was NO PROBLEM with my billing or any of my services, and they didn't recognize the 480-366-3333 number. Nothing was up for renewal. We actually just ordered another service the day before, and I could see that payment was properly processed and cleared from our bank the next day.

I am contacting you in regard to calls which I recieve constantly from 480-366-3333.

    4/25/2012 - 9:20am
    4/24/2012 - 2:13pm
    4/24/2012 - 10:37am
    4/21/2012 - 4:16pm
    4/20/2012 - 1:16pm
    4/20/2012 - 9:50am

This call NEVER leaves a message. This call never lets the phone ring more than twice. I am unable to answer fast enough for them. They call more than once a day, but leave no message. The caller ID has no indication that it is in any way affiliated with GoDaddy, and when I return call to that number the call is answered by a "company" I have never heard of. The agent who answered the phone wants to know my name... ok, no problem, then they tell me that I need to provide my GoDaddy security code.

I asked how I could get them to stop calling and the agent becomes short and arrogent telling me that "if I would supply them with a secret code then they could alter my account and fix this." THIS IS AFTER A RECORDING THAT TELLS ME THAT OPERATORS DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ACCOUNTS.

Had the caller ID said GoDaddy I may have been more receptive, or if the phone were answered "GoDaddy", I may have been more inclined to believe the call was legit.

IF YOU HIRE A COMPANY TO CALL FOR YOU, HAVE THEM LEAVE A MESSAGE.

At this time, I am seriously considering cancelling all services and moving to another hosting company.

I have been a customer for years and expect a response to this in a timely manner.

Are you freaking nutz? Conservative? Yes, I thought the call was bogus, and my accounts (9) are being closed today. The calls are a pain in the ass, they leave no message. Being an x- godaddy employee shows how fuck3d up the company has become. No wonder you don't work there anymore.

This is so funny that people think this is a scam number, it definitely is NOT. And the people saying they are asking for credit card numbers...well maybe they are asking if you'd like to renew with a different card because the one on file has expired or something. But the way some of these posters are putting it here is an outright lie (Lee, Chris and others). There is no scam, there is no illegitimacy from this number. They are calling you to help you protect your online intellectual property because you overlooked the fact you have it and you were not responsible enough to pay attention to your own account and have proper up to date information on it. Yes, I've had cards replaced too, and I try to update my online accounts when that happens. If I forget to, then I WELCOME a call from the company if I'm in danger of losing my items because I have improper information. There is absolutely nothing fishy or wrong about this number. Some people just need to get a brain and stop trying to turn it into something that isn't true without looking into it and doing the responsible thing on their part instead of coming to sites like this and spewing lies.

The number is curious, google hits return only this page and ones like it, and giving a card number to someone who's cold-calling is ridiculous to begin with. Whois info is abused all the time and whoever these guys are - if they are legitimate-  they're not helping themselves even over years as the comments go back to 2009.

As if there needed to be another reason to get the hell away from GoDaddy.

I paid for my domain name with Paypal. No reason for them to be asking for my credit card info, as I never gave it to GoDaddy in the first place!

I got a call today from this number claiming to be representing my website host-not GoDaddy. He needed to discuss some things that had come up on my billing. My website host is a considerably smaller operation. First red flag - he called the company by a name that was close but not quite right. Then he wanted my credit card number to verify the account. I told him I was uncomfortable with that and would contact the company directly. Called the company owner -- they DO NOT outsource any aspect of their billing. Read -- scam?

The number 480-366-3333 is not from scammers, it is actually from Godaddy.com
I received the same call asking for my info, after calling the guy a scammer and hanging up, I called Godaddy and they were able to tell me, from their notes, what I said to the guy that called, verbatim. I'm surprised to see so many people so quick to bash these callers online without even calling Godaddy to verify.

Got a call from this number today. Caller ID showed Website Services. Here is a transcript of the voicemail:
"Hello this is an important message from Spotsylvania County schools. To listen to the message press one or simply stay on the line. To place this call on hold press the pound key. Good afternoon this is a message from Freedom Middle School. Due to an incident at Chatsworth High School today afternoon buses may be delayed in picking up our students which made in turn delay them arriving home this delay may also affect the elementary schools. Please contact your child's Elementary School to determine if the delays will affect them as well. We apologize for the inconvenience and want you to know that your child safety is important to us. Thank you and have a wonderful day."

They called and welcomed me to the godaddy team. Seemed legit enough, I let it go to voicemail so I have no idea if there was a real person on the other end of the line

No call--straight to voice mail.  That makes this suspicious for a robo-call.
