- AnonymousI see there are a lot of comments about this number, so I thought I would post on here. I work for the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as such have chosen not to leave my name). This number will display on your caller ID anytime ANYONE from Mayo Clinic Minnesota calls you, no matter the reason, the department, or whether or not you've ever been to or heard of Mayo Clinic. Sometimes information is passed from one campus (the others are Jacksonville, FL or Scottsdale, AZ) to another.
A few examples include, but are certainly not limited to:
-An online or telephone request submitted (by you, a family member, friend, or even your physician) regarding services provided by or at Mayo Clinic (appointments, clinical trials, testing, general health information, etc);
-Reminders for appointments;
-Billing, collections, or financial information (usually only if you've been a patient, but I suppose that's not always the case);
-A patient, guest, or employee who is at Mayo Clinic and using a Mayo phone (including those in the hospital or emergency room);
-If your employer uses Mayo (MMSI) insurance or Mayo business to business services (such as online health assessments);
-Surveys regarding a recent visit or interaction;
-If you are or have been enrolled in a telephone-based quit smoking program;
-Fundraising or donation services (such as blood, or tissue donation);
-Interest in clinical trials for cancer and other conditions.
These are the examples I can think of, but I'm sure there's many, many more.
For many reasons, (namely privacy) oftentimes, a message cannot be left; which is just as frustrating for both parties (I have been on both ends of this scenario).
A lot of times, the person calling is going off outdated or incorrectly provided information, which is unfortunate; as far as the beeps and such, it could be that, or misdialed number.
Hope this helps.- Caller: Mayo Clinic

- Stashtastic MomoGot a call no message from 507-538-1700. Whatever this company is Mayo Clinic or whatever they should simply send emails and/or hardcopy postcards, letters to the address they have on file. Receiving unknown mysterious calls from callers does not invite me whatsoever to respond.

- beckit was a message form Mayo, where a family member of mine is a patient, and the woman on the message said she was from Patient Account Services and was "calling you for a status on our last conversation." We had canceled an appointment so maybe they are calling to reschedule? Don't know. I hate it when people leave messages without more detail! It's very anxiety producing!

- Ignorant| 1 replyCan't people read! It is Mayo Clinic's (or company X for that matter) number that is displayed on most outgoing calls (1000's of phones used for various reasons, please do not make me list them all) . If you get called by mistake it is usually due to a bad number in their records due to a patient giving bad info or not updating their records (one example of many - say the patient gets a new phone number and you end up with their old one in the future). Now do you see why they don't leave a message in case they are not contacting the right person and giving out confidential info. .. or would you like hospitals leaving your confidential information about your implants on someone's voice mail by accident. .. or would you also complain about that? It is a regulation that they cannot leave details, the same reason bill collectors can’t. There are 100's of other reasons of getting a call from this number including patients, visitors, using a phone there and misdialing by accident or kids screwing around, . Every system will have minor flaws if the human factor is involve. Deal with it. If you get numerous calls, be an adult and call Company X and explain to them.
I understand why all the comments and concerns since there are a lot of shady businesses that are calling all of us daily. Do not group this one with them, even though mayo is not the best clinic in the world.
If this is what we have to whine about, life is good, go out and Live instead of being paranoid!- Caller: Mayo

- ConcernedCalls from 507- 528-1700 Mayo Clinic indicated on caller ID . Woman with a heavy accented voice if to pick up the call . The woman nervously requested to speak to someone or stated something that was somewhat garbled and not understood . When asked to repeat what she may have said she closed the phone .
This caller/calls are of concern . This number and caller must be reported and addressed and any others from this given number .
The telecommunication protocals are set not just for some, it is for all to follow .
If not, calls such are these fall within the concern of the so often heard of the attempt of ones identity and or information seeking .
We are contacting Mayo to check if they do have anyone calling the public . If so it is at question who and how this information is being desiminated and to whom- Caller: Mayo Clinic

- DonnaThis is definitely from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Fortunately they did leave a message. Woman that called me was calling to see if I'd be willing to follow-up on a study I participated in years ago. The number they said to call back was 507-284-6216.
It is a legitimate number who obviously deals with former or current patients or they wouldn't have been able to get my cell number.- Caller: Mayo Clinic
