Addendum: the number on the phone display was 523 698 8971.

I received 2 calls one while I was at work, and one at like 9:00 at night, on my personal phone. I didn’t recognize the # so I didn’t pick up. The second time a message was left, very heavy Indian accent, I could barely understand. He said he was calling from Ally Auto about past due payments (I do have a car financed through ally), it sounded suspicious and I’m glad I looked here. They gave me an 800# to call back, I didn’t check to see if it was actually Ally’s #.

They are calling to collect a debt from my husband's ex-wife to which I have NO contact with. I have called this agency 5 times and asked them to remove me from the contact list for her. By the way, they will tell me to call an 800 number belonging to Ally Financial.

They call me at my work number at least once a week pretending to be from McGraw-Hill.   The say that my employer owes them $211,000.  It's always a man with a VERY thick accent, and always a very muffled voice.  It appears that they prey on schools because when I Googled the call-back number (800-648-3045) there are a ton of entries about fraudulent credit card charges, many of which are to schools, but some to individuals.

So received a message from this number on a business line. The guy spoke the worst English ever and it didn't help that he spoke super softly and muffled everything and didn't mention anyone specifically and he said he was going to mail an invoice to who knows where. Another words, that message is trash and no one cares. Good job, debt collector. Quality control at it's finest.
