J'ai reçu plusieurs appels du 514-488-4242. Heureusement, je n'ai pas répondu parce que je ne réponds pas (et donc je ne paie pas) pour des appels provenant d'inconnus.

Same thing here.  I got my cellphone only yesterday at 5pm, and got the phonecall at 2:26pm ; less than 24 hours.  Great.  If they call again, I'll try to call Fido hotline.

Just got a call on my FIDO (2/7/2008  10:34 AM).

What an idiotic promotional plan: Call a prospect then hang up. What's the point?

As for the earlier link by "BeachBoy", here's a fairly decent English translation of that French forum page:

the point is, if you answer the call their might be a chance that you will be charged from your provider.. so they take that into account.. they give you the choice to call from any phone.. the company is legit Im currently a subscriber , as far as receiving those annoying calls just simply give them a call and they will remove your number from their list.it is not a scam , i am proof of that.. in essence all they are trying to do is give the consumer a plan which in my case really helps save money..

Since they currently have a couple of thousand clients the simply take the first 3 digits of the cell number in my case 293 and randomly call 293 0000 to 293 9999. they do not have a list.. so in this case it is extremely important that you call them to have your number removed from their call list..

I am a client with Project1, i to thaught it was a scam, but i assure you it works and it is not a scam. If you don't want to be called by them you can always ask to be removed.

I'm from ProjectONE.  We call subscribers in the Montreal area with a callerID of 514-448-4242 and a name display (if you have name display) of ProjectONE.  We ONLY call twice in one year at most! And, you can call us back at that same number and we will immediately remove you from our list.

We offer an unlimited (outgoing) $10/month service that works with Fido, Bell, Rogers and Telus.

Our intention is to notify cell phone subscribers of the above mentioned service - that is all.

Yes, I can explain.  We are offering a phone application that works with Fido, Bell, Telus and Rogers.  It's the ONLY way to get unlimited outgoing on a cell phone for $10/month (extra).  Unless, you got a great plan from your cell provider.

In order to use our service (it's a callback or call return service) you need unlimited incoming on your existing plan.

If you need more clarification, call 514-448-4242 and press 0 to speak to a representative.

No, it's not a prank call.

ProjectONE is a Montreal company that specializes in phone applications.  We decided to create one (the callback service) that allows cell subscribers a way to save a lot of money.

In the coming months, we will be adding very cool features to the service. And the best part is that they will be FREE.

For more info, you can call 514-448-4242.

The reason we call and hangup is so subscribers like yourself that pay for all incoming and outgoing calls have the option of calling us back from a phone where you don't pay.

The reason we're using this telemarketing method is that we (and our resellers) have tried mass market flyers, radio, newspaper, etc and none of those methods allow us to offer the service at such a low price of $10. In other words, the cost was too high in terms of reaching potential users of the service.

We guarantee that we only call a subscriber twice in a whole year.  And, if you call us to be removed from our list, we remove forever.

You're right - it's a grey zone in terms of CRTC regulations.

We read the CRTC regulations. And, at first, called subscribers with a question (survey) telemarketing call.  The callerID was again the same 514-448-4242. But, it would ring several times until the cell phone subscriber answered the call.  Most people did not like that because they paid for the call.

So we decided to change the way we made the telemarketing call so subscribers would not be billed for the call.

We purposely call and show our callerID and name (if you have that option) so that you can call from a landline, call later from home etc ... so that you don't pay for the call.

We've activated many clients via this telemarketing method.  They appreciated that we called them.

For subscribers that do not appreciate our call, please call us and we will remove your number from our list.

We ONLY call a number twice in one whole year.  It's impossible that you got mutiple calls from us in the same day, week or month.  You must be getting calls from others or probably text messages.

As if people on this side can't see that this post, the post from "slime" and the post from Project One isn't done by the same person. You're harassing people by calling and hanging up. It's not up to us to call you and "ask" to be removed, it's up to you to stop calling and resort instead to other marketing methods.

Also, in a few months, you'll be shut down anyways as the CRTC has passed the Do Not Call registry and calls like yours will be illegal to people who subscribe.

I have an idea, why don't you post your own number on here and let people call you back, hang up on you and then you can call each person to ask them to not call you again...
