It was a prerecorded call about student loan debt

I saw an unknown number from Iowa and was like who is it this time. They didn't want to talk to me. Instant block. :D

SCAMMER!!!!! Yes, it is a man calling about a school loan forgiveness deal. BUT.....I have NONE!! They are digging for information on banking accounts because I have NO school loans at all and NEVER have!!! Hmmm, they don't give the option of call type being a scammer!

Thanks to everyone who posted here that they didn't answer. That information is helpful also.

I didn't answer either and intend to block it based on the number of postings here. However, if you want to answer and entertain yourself:

Go to the sporting goods store and buy a referee's whistle.
Answer and make sure you're talking to a live person.
Hold the phone away from your own ear and blow the whistle. Then say, "NOW PUT THE PHONE UP TO YOUR GOOD EAR AND LISTEN - DON'T CALL ME AGAIN."

I have found this to be very effective as well as wildly amusing.

Call on my work cell phone which, to my knowledge, has never been used or given to anyone outside the company. A man asked if I wanted to get my student loans forgiven; said to press one if I wanted to continue and nine if I didn't. I said "what the heck" and I pressed one. Got transferred to an obvious call center (several voices and ringing phones in the background) and heard a disinterested woman begin her welcoming script. Decided not to waste any more of my time and hung up.

Received a call from this number today on my cell phone,  telling me how I can refinance my student loan at a real low rate.  Person sound if he's from India.. first , I dont have any student loan and second , I don't give my cell phone to any financial institution.  So, I don't know why he's calling me.  Btw, he didn't even mention my name or gave me his name.  So I hung up on him...

Just got a call. Got a recording. Hung up. Then I thought about it and called back and all I got was a busy signal.

Called my cell twice today.  The hung up did not leave message.

Called, Didnt pick up, Left a text message calling them homosexuals.

Said something about Student loan forgiveness. I have a brother in Iowa with a 515 number. I believed it was him and answered, but to my surprise it wasn't I continued to see what information they would try to get out of me. First Lady on the line had a heavy accent. I gave her a fake name, she asked me questions about household size and income and said I qualified and xfered the call to another guy who clearly had no accent. It sounded very legit I almost believed him except I don't have any loans 😂 Then he wanted to get access to the "account" wanted my username and password 😆 And then I said I forgot it and he proceeded to create one for me. Unbelievable how good he is, then he said "last thing is your SSN." I told him I had to call him back and he gave me his callback number and ext. Obviously 🙄 I never called back.

I got a call today from this number. A recording of a man claimed I'm eligible for student loan debt forgiveness. When I did not respond to speak with a representative, it hung up on me. This is the second time I received a call from this number in the last week... the first time I did not answer & no voicemail was left.

Called my cell, no message.
