I redialed this number (anonymously) and heard the following recording:

"Welcome to our Customer Communications Management Platform. It is likely that you have been contacted by one of our representatives, and are calling back for additional information, or to request that we refrain from calling you in the future. Please listen to the following prompts and select the information that best meets your needs. If you would like to be connected to one of our customer service representatives, please press (1) now. If you would like to have your telephone phone number input into our do not call database, please press (2) now. If you would like to leave a voice message, please press 3 now, and it will be delivered to our customer care department. If you would like to report your concerns regarding our marketing practices, or to provide your comments to the regulatory agencies that govern our industry, please press (4) now. If you would like to hear these selections again, please press (9)."

Blocked this number long ago and have never answered it, but they just keep calling...

Just throwing my hat into the ring.  Yeah, they called me, but I wasn't home.  It was a repeat call from the same number.  It's the Microsoft scam.  I've stored the number in my phone book as Microsoft Scam.  That way I know it's our middle-eastern brothers and sister calling to do us the favor of lightening the loads of our finances.

I just received a call at approximately 3:40 P.M. CDT, May 11, 2014 from Manhassett, NY 516-453-6886.  I didn't answer and they hung up without leaving a message when it went to voicemail.  I've gotten calls from them in the past.  It's actually kind of fun when they tell me that me that "Your ISP has reported to us that you have not been receiving Windows Security updates and your Internet account will be suspended until this is corrected."  I'll play along and they'll give me a URL, telling me to go there and download and run some file with a name like "update.exe."  I tell them that the file will not run.  They keep insisting, telling me how to enable the download.  Finally I tell them that I'm running Linux Mint OS instead of Windows and that their .exe malware just won't run under Linux.  The next thing I generally hear is, "Linux?  Your computer is running Linux? <click!>"  [***]!

I hadn't seen this number before ('cause I didn't have it blocked).  I didn't answer so I have no clue what they wanted.  But by reading all the posts, here, it seems this number is spoofed for many different scam calls.  I'm blocking them.

516-453-6886 called May 12, 2015 at 10:33 am.  Caller ID = OUT OF AREA.
Thanks 800notes.  This caller has so many identities, and all are scams.

They just called. Did not answer (since I recognized the number as being from a scammer).

By chance, have any of you had a recent computer repair performed by a 3rd Party (i.e. Geek  Squad, etc.)?

caller ID reads ::: JGV ::: A barely understandable person who sounds like they're calling from Pakistan asks for my e-mail address so he can check my computer for problems. What an outright scammer!

I enjoy these guys. I ask why is there windows on my mac? And watch them scramble. They are not very good con men

Some of these operations are starting to target Mac users and I cannot say I am surprised.

Hangup call.  To those who receive these type calls on cell phones, I recommend saving the number with the first and last name of CRAP.  (22277727)  It keeps you from answering the calls a second time when the phone when it comes up as CRAP CRAP

same as above no one answers when i pick up. became suspicious as my computer crashed yesterday and screen came up and wouldn't let me do anything. called number asked companies name "AllPCFixers" they wanted to "fix" my computer for me. Evidently the screen which locked my computer and gave their number to call is a malware program. Took me four hours and a call to McAfee to uninstall all the malware.!!! I do believe these numbers are linked.

Yeah, he says he from windows and my computer is sending out signals and I need to be at my computer so he can fix it. I ask him what is wrong with it, I then ask which computer he is talking about, he say your computer. When he see I am not stupid he gets mad an hangs up.

No message left but I've gotten hundreds of solar scams and windows infected scams so based on these types of reports from others, am sure it was the same scammer.

[***] called my home phone, and it went to voice mail where he poured out all of his knowledge (silence for 2 seconds). These chicken rapists will be blocked via my call blocking device now.
