This is very much a scam. They called at first claiming to be Medicare and when questioned closely they said they were associated with Medicare and called themselves Medicare Seniors. They knew I had a painful lower back condition and I do have sciatica although they never directly named my problem. They were wanting to send me a back brace and the caller indicated a sense of urgency because they were in the shipping department and needed to get it shipped out right away but required confirmation of some details first, in particular my Medicare number.

They seemed to not really appreciate all of my questioning. The caller said my doctor had referred the request to them but they couldn't give me the doctor's name, then they said that it could have been my insurance but couldn't give me my supplement's name because they were "just" the shipping department.
When I tried giving them false information about my condition to see what would happen they just went with it and modified their spiel. I do know that if they end up  randomly sending me this back brace that I don't want it would be outright fraud and that would be evidence to support a  legal case against them, so I'm curious to see what happens next. I have reported them to Medicare and I'm calling the Federal Trade Commission. Needless to say I have blocked their number.

These questions remain: how did they know I had painful lower back issues? This is the second company to call claiming to be from or associated with Medicare with a  back brace to send to me. How did these companies get my name, mobile phone number, mailing address, medical condition (HIPAA anyone?) and the knowledge that I am on Medicare? There are only two possibilities that I can think of: my doctor's office or the company that carrys my insurance supplement.

The telemarketers don't really know about the lower back issues. They use dialer equipment to blanket call wide swaths of telephone numbers knowing that a percentage of the people they contact will have some form of back pain.

The Caller ID comes up as Peru, which was an immediate warning NOT to answer it; while it was ringing I started doing a Bing search. On performing research, it appears to be some type of pharmacy or medical scam. Don't answer the call and block it. I'm not sure why it comes up as "Peru" but you don't need to find out.

Claimed they were from Medicare and asked me if I wanted a new card.  Told them I don't have Medicare. Then he cursed at me and asked why am I talking to him.  Heavy Indian accent.

Just got a call from this number, called me by name. It showed anonymous on my phone these type of calls are getting on my last nerve. When she said my name I asked who is this and it quickly went into a busy signal. Not sure if it was for me to call back but I wasn't going to fall for it. Something has to be done about these people.
