claimed to be from tech online and wanted to access payment from me and take over my computer with permission by going to another site logmein.com because they claim to have been notified by microsoft about error codes on my computer. their phone number comes up as unknown on caller id.

I got the same, Mike & James both said click start, run, then put in logmeon123.com and I would be helped by windows tech to get rid of errors and warnings, my PC is ready to crash at any time. They then said they would call me back within 1 hour and they did, unknown name and didn't leave a message.

You mean 516-730-7009 is a legit company called techsonline? If so how are they associated with Microsoft? The names you mentioned are different then 3 given to me by the callers. Did they have a middle eastern accent?

I too received a call from an Indian sounding man saying that Microsoft had alerted them to the fact that I had faults on my computer. Against my better instincts I agreed to pay for a malware program and they then took over my computer to 'clean it up'.  I do not notice any great improvement in running speed.  In fact, there seem to be more problems.  I regret doing this and am concerned about future security.

I received a call from a gentleman with a very heavy accent.  I had a hard time inderstanding him.  He said he was sent to me by Microsoft because they discovered that someone had downloaded bad virus into my computer.
He took me through several steps to show me just how infiltrated my computer is.  However, the things he showed me were pretty benign, not dangerous.  He kept telling me that these 'warnings' and 'errors' were corrupting my motherboard.  When he asked for remote control of my computer, I did not want to give anyone that kind of access.  After all, he is just a voice on the phone.
I checked with our company computer whiz IT Support, and he said my computer is fine.

these people called month ago now three times in one day saying they were with windows I need to go  get on my computer  go to my computer they would not say what to do after that, I did not do it. The man hung up on me when I tried to get more info. They called back twice still trying to get me to go to my computer I called my internet co they said was scamers.

Had a call from this # (516-730-7009)wanted to tell me how delete some malicious software from my computer.

This company/guy with the thick accent called my mother with the same story. It's a scam. Legitimate companies don't cold call you claiming your computer needs work.

This company is a scam. I got a call from them today. I guy with a heavy Indian accent told me that he had information that I had problems with my computer. (Of course, it is impossible that this guy had any information about my computer.) He claimed to be some sort of Microsoft technician. He wanted me to go to the start menu on my computer, but I hung up on him.

The people who posted positive comments about this company are obviously shills who work for the company.

Call received from TechIsOnline.  Thanks all for posting the info.  

He told me Microsoft had identified my computer as having issues that were affecting my motherboard.  I looked the company up while talking with the tech who guided me to check my computer's my Event Viewer. When I told him there were a lot of errors, he said, "Oh, my goodness" a few times and transferred me to his manager.  I quickly told the technician's manager that I was reporting the telephone number as a fraud based on the info I found here.

I had a call from techisonline.  The 'technician' at the other end of the phone tried to prove that my PC was full of bugs by getting me to run the Event Viewer and by opening the info folder.  Both these will always show 'warnings' and 'errors' because that's what is supposed to be there (ask Microsoft - it's normal).  The giveaway was when the tech said "put 'info corrupted files' into the run box".  You can type 'info esfnv opipsa' or anything else after the 'info ' and you will always get the info folder.  They want you to buy dud software or to pay for some sort of 'registration'.  They even told me that my genuine Windows registration number was faulty.  IT IS A SCAM!  DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Total scam. There are many danger signs but I will point out 2:

1 lying about being with microsoft and claiming to have been notified about pc problems

2 virtually every positive post uses odd phrasing and syntax associated with english as a second language (yep, all posted by the india scammers themselves)

You are an idiot and one of the scammers.  If anything you said were true, you wouldn't even be looking up the number on here.  Scammers like you come on this board to try to trick your victims when your scam stops working on the phone.  From a technical perspective, your post is nonsense too.

This company is a friggin scam.  I just got a call from a so called techi support member stating that my computer was infected by a virus.  I don't know much about computers but I DO know that you should never log on and give any of your information out.  I started asking him questions about his phone number which he said was 516-730-7009 (located in Nassau, NY) and his bosses name. He started asking me HOW OLD I WAS AND THEN ASKED IF I HAD A DAUGHTER SO HE COULD THINK ABOUT HER!  SICK [***].  I'M SO UPSET THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE ACUTALLY GOING TO GET PEOPLE TO GIVE THERE INFORMATION AND DO GOD KNOWS WHAT WITH IT!!!  Those people on here that are saying this is legite are full of [***]!

I just recieved a brand new computer 2 weeks ago and recieved a call from the phone number 516-730-7009 saying I had problems on my system.  I have not had enough time with my computer to have any problems!  Sounds like a scam to me.

techonline is a scam and some of the messages that on this website that claim it isn't are false.

messages written by people with english sounding names, but the messages are written in broken english.....

Do a google search and you'll see all the SCAM warnings....

My aunt received a call from a gentleman who could barely speak English who claimed to represent a company informed by their "Microsoft Certified Senior Technician" (no such designation!) that her computer was infected by a "malicious site."  She gave the the phone and the caller repeated the claim.  I asked for his number and the name of his company to call back, and at first he balked, but then provided this number and techniesonline.com.  I asked him if he was calling from Bangalore, and he said no he was calling from "N.Y.C." I kept him on the line for a few minutes for his pitch, then informed him we had no Microsoft products and use only Apple systems,  that I hold an Apple certification, and wondered if he could kindly state the basis for his concern.  He offered to connect me to his "Microsoft Certified Senior Technician" again.  After some further questioning, he hung up.  Anyone could tell this was a random sales call to numbers in the book (they repeatedly called me by the wrong name), from a company no one would want to deal with.

Oh yes, he also said his name was "Kevin Watson."  Heavy South Indian accent - absurd!
