Just got a call from "Rachel" at cardholder services... I even pressed 1 to talk to someone, and then the call dropped. What is the point of trying to scam people if there's no one there to even give credit card info to?!

D J,  I appreciate you wasting their time.  These  scammers can only try to cheat so many people on any given day.  You may have saved a trusting senior citizen from being ripped off today.  You have done you civic duty.   It's appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    A Senior Citizen

The FCC is offering a reward for any info that leads to the suing of the people behind these calls. It's a $50,000 reward.

The problem with them is that they're using a masking device to make their calls, so that the number on your caller ID isn't their real number. Police also have been known to use such a device to mask numbers, so it's not a terribly uncommon thing. If there's a way to get around that mask, no one knows of it yet, or these people would have been caught already.

Here's the kicker - There are *actual people* who work these lines. Occasionally, you can get an actual person to pick up the phone to try to take down your credit card info. We just don't know what country they're in, or any other identifiers. If somebody gets a chance to actually speak with them & can figure that out, that person might be well on their way to getting their hands on that reward, as well as stopping these calls, & probably getting money from a class action lawsuit as well.

So instead of blowing off these calls, somebody needs to start talking to these people & trying to get info out of them.

This scam is operated by a man named Dennis Heine 1-251-979-5006. It is a Credit Card scam. I traced it back to his current location in Gulf Shores Alabama. He runs a cover business called Nautical Services Inc. That is his direct line ti his cell phone and is still working. Call him and give him the same treatment.

Let me guess, you're basing this info on the fact that this number is one that called you in the past? Like I said in a past post, it's a company using a device to mask the number. Don't believe the caller ID.

Great! Go tell that to the FCC so you can claim your reward!

Seriously, if it were that simple, we'd have a class action lawsuit already.

They call you and say because of your excellent credit history you qualify for a lower rate.  They ask you how much of a balance are you carrying and since I told him I don't carry a balance he hung up on me!!!!!

I just got the call and pressed one to speak to someone.
The person who answered spoke american english, and sounded as if she was a native english speaker born in the midwest USA.

of couse, I get the 'this is not a working number' thing when i tried to call back after i spoke to her for about 5 minutes and finally called her out on being a scammer.

"I'm not trying to twist your arm, sir" and then the line when dead.
