Caller ID says "unknown name".  Left no message.

asked for a donation for veterans

male asked for my spouse and identified himself as "US Veterans Assistance Foundation" and solicited commitment of 35, 30, 25 dollars. I advised he was welcome to send the solicitation, but I was not making a commitment, and the conversation sort of ended. afterwards, I googled the organization and found www.vafvets.org, and their website prominently notes that they never solicit donations by phone. They are a worthwhile organization and I added them to our list.

Called my landline in California and didn’t leave a message.  CallerID indicated “Georgetown, CA” which doesn’t exit in this Stste.

Guy called and asked “Is this David” and I said “This is David”. He hung up immediately. These guys want you to say “yes” so they can use your voice for that word. Read that somewhere. Now every time I answer my phone, I state that it’s me speaking. They hang up every time

You may have "read that somewhere" but apparently you didn't keep reading so you would have learned that there is no documented proof of anyone actually being harmed simply by saying the word "yes".

Called here and told me that they needed donations for veterans. I asked him which group he was with  and that  I work at the VA, he hung up immediately.

No caller ID.  No message.  Blocked the number.
