As you say, they just get a new number to bother you with, so you end up blocking 60+ numbers. At least, so far, my carrier has not put a limit on blocking numbers. Good luck! All we can do is keep on keeping on...!

1. Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail. Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.
2. If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free call blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.
3. If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group". Assign the scammer's phone number to that group. Also assign a "silent ring" to that group. You will not hear future calls from that number.
3a. Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc. That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers! (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers, so be careful!)
4. For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider. They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.
5. For landlines: there are several call blocking devices and services available. Use your favorite search engine to find one.
6. DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live". Instead, read this:

Please reply to this post, to let us know you read it, or have taken suitable actions to protect yourself. - Oklahoma Resident replies to ConThe DO NOT CALL WEBSITE isn't used to stop the calls. It' used to register your phone number so honest solicitors (like myself) know not to call you. It's also used to report violations for those dishonest solicitations. The fine is $16,000 for each violation. Yes they'll get a new number but it's still a violation associated with the company. It only takes 7 violations to reach $100,000. Report them, eventually they'll go out of business.
- Biff MalibuThis 561-270-8923 number calls 2 and 3X a day. AUTO WARRANTY scam. Uh, yeah, NO. I have them in one of 10 Telemarketer DOUCHE lists on my phone w a custom ringtone (crickets). When I hear the crickets I know it's some idiot calling to sell something. I instantly IGNORE these calls. We'll never be able to stop the telemarketers. Just gotta work around the intrusion and never answer.

- S MHave recvd two calls from this number now 561-270-8923 and this time when I answered, the phone said in a computer voice "Please leave a message.." and then a beep. So I said, "Stop calling me" and then called the number back on my caller ID ~ where I got a nice guy in Alaska which is not the same number as I had just dialed ~ (so they are using some weird technology there) sooo annoying ~ how they think they can harass me and then think I will BUY their product is BEYOND me!

- gg replies to MessyCalls from this # are constant & don't quit....telemarketer from background voices....even though all our numbers are on the do not call list, they will not stop. I named it Telemarketer hassle, & just punch off or let it ring, but they never leave voice mail.....why? Obviously illegal telemarketer....what should we do......well, tell 'Em you'll turn 'em in to "Trump & co"....maybe they'll figure it out....or block 'Em..
