One ring and hung up... wtf... ?

I got a call from them at 8:55AM [***] made my phone ring once and then hung up. Love waking up to that on a Saturday morning. And, I am amazed that they got my number because I am on the do not call list.

Missed call on my cell phone.  It too is on the do not call list.  grrr.

So what can we do to stop this?  Can they be reported to the DoNotCall people with the government?  I'd like to do something to shut them down.

FOLLOWUP:  You can file a complaint at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx but they dont take any action, only log the data to assist other agencies.  If anyone knows of an agency that does take action I would appreciate knowing!

Got a call from this number, no message.  Thought I was on the no-call list.  Will call my provider.

i received a call from this number, on my cell, rang 3 times, no message left on vm.

Just got a call from this number on my cell.  It rang twice and that was it.  No voicemail.

Who are these people? And how did they call me - I am on the do not call list?  When calling back you get an automated message wanting you to confirm your number - no way Jose.

Same as the others, one ring then hung up.  Caller ID shows "unnamed."  Didn't bother to call back as it appears this is their intention in making the call.

Got a call on my cell from this number today but I was not there to pick it up. I wish they would leave my cell alone.

Got a call from this number this evening. Note that everyone seems to get them either early in a.m. or around 8 or so at night. I am also on do not call list. I think everyone is right that this is some way for them to record "real" numbers that they can use later for nefarious purposes. Very aggravating.

I've blocked this caller.  Calls so many times per day, my phone battery goes dead.  Can't seem to keep them out of voice mail, at least one a day goes through to VM.  No one there, just backround noises.  Added to the Do Not Call registry.  Any other ideas?
