- Caller: Missouri Career Center
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- SuzyIt is a generic number for the state.
Atty general, dept of revenue, state bar, and I am sure many others have this show as the number. - Pat replies to GuestI think your right..it's a scam. I tried to call back also, sounded like a fax or a beep every second. Please don't call back people you don't know and give them your social security number and other personal information, anyone can tell you they are the IRS or another agency. One thing that really stood out to me was the man that received the call in the middle of the morning saying they were with the Highway Patrol and asking personal info and hanging up!
- Pat replies to SteveI just received two calls from this number 573-522-0000 each time I picked up there was just a beeping sound, no person. I called back the number and the same thing. Someone could be calling to get personal information, social security numbers, birthdays, place of birth..don't give out anything unless you are positive of who you are speaking to. I advise calling your State Attorney's office.
- AlanThis number is for most the government offices inside the Truman building in Jefferson City. I have received multiple calls with this same number for different government departments.
- Wanda**Proceed With Caution!** PLEASE! I got 2 calls from 573-522-0000 the first time no message the 2nd time (5 minutes later) left an automated message saying that they were the Dept. of Revenue regarding my personal income tax and to call 573-526-5249 to discuss this "urgent" matter. Ok, 1st, to my knowledge there would be no reason for the IRS to need to contact me (red flag maybe) but I called the number given just in case it was important. There was a recording that said it was the IRS and that my call may be recorded then a woman said thank you for calling the IRS what is my acct number? I said I don't have an acct I am just returning a call I just got. She then asked me for my SS# and I told her I wasn't comfortable giving my number out because I was calling a number that the message gave me and I hadn't verified it to be the IRS yet and asked if she might be able to tell me why they may have called. She got very rude and said This is the IRS that you called and I can't tell you anything without your SS# that is how I get into your acct. If you don't want to give me your SS# I can't help you and if you want to do whatever to believe this is the IRS then you can just call back then. After I told her I wouldn't give her the number she became annoyed and hateful. So I told her I would verify the number and call back. BTW she never asked me what my name was..or for any other related information..maybe isn't relevant but seems odd to me. I did some checking on the MO Gov't website and at this moment I still cannot verify the number that I called back on. Lots of numbers on that site but not 573-526-5249 (maybe just not updated) I feel like it is more than likely a scam but to be sure I will call the IRS tomorrow from the number they list on their website. ***Please proceed with caution! Scammers are everywhere! It is not hard to fake an automated message and number for people to call back on. It is just as easy (if you know how) to make the number you are calling from appear on caller ID as any number you wish! And you should never give out such information without being 100% sure of who you are giving that information to! Don't ever let anyone shame or guilt you into doing so. If they are legit they will understand completely! Just sayin...
- EmilyI just got a missed call from this number and looked it up. I have a hard time believing it is the Missouri Dept of Revenue as I have never even been to Missouri much less worked there or been employed by a company even based there.
