Got the same message left on my vm.  Broken English but he could make out the trigger works "illegal" and "attorney" very well.  But I doubt poor grandma could understand him so I guess it's a fail.

Indian man claiming to be from IRS called at 8:30 on Saturday morning - caught me just waking up.  Told me IRS had been sent a registered letter to my address that was returned to office because no one home to sign for it.  Confirmed my correct address.  Said to call 585-310-3285 and give a case number he gave me and that my case officer, Officer Dexter Cruise, would explain issue with my last tax return.  I called.  Phone answered by man that sounded the same.  He asked my name.  I told him I had a case number.  He demanded my name.  I told him I would give him my case number.  He told me that he would see me in court and hung up.  I looked up number on internet and saw all of the posts.  Do not give this man any information.

Received a call from 585-310-3285 this morning, individual had a heavy accent and said he was with the IRS and I had a tax issue.  I just hung up knowing it was a scam, but he kept calling back.  He said why did you hang up, I said because you are not from the IRS and have no time for him.  He said ok, I'll send a police officer to your house.  I said please do.

Received a call message 2/22/2014 from 585-3103285 Alan Bruce. Very strong India accent, saying this is from IRS, do not discard the call, by law….Feel wired since this is Sunday, IRS should not work and they should send letter instead of phone calls. Called back the number, the other side no reply, but saying Magic Jack please leave a message. Come online check the number found this board. Thanks for the info.

Yes I would send the information to the FBI. They also called our cell phone stating the same thing, We immediately filed a police report and will be contacting the IRS during their normal business hours. As this scum bag called us on a Saturday! I fought back with him when he threaten us with the US Marshal coming to our home to arrest my husband. When I READ HIM THE FRAUD COMPLAINTS posted on the IRS. this creep said. "you got me, are you going to report me?" I hung up.

Note that I am not impugning either the magicJack company or YMAX Communications in any way -- it's just that their service and devices have proven convenient for scammers.

I also suggest that you make a simple demand of people who call and claim that you will be arrested immediately.  Demand the number of your local IRS Taxpayer Advocate's Office so you can call them immediately and ask for a hearing because "You face (or your business is facing) an immediate threat of adverse action."  (They probably can't actually get you a "hearing," but this is one of the ways you can qualify for help from them.)  There really are such offices and you can look up their numbers on the Internet, or you can get IRS Publication 1546, which contains a list of them.  There are other ways to get this list or just your local Advocate's Office, but I am deliberately being vague here because I don't want to make it too easy for foreign scammers to get this list.

This demand may by itself either scare or confuse the heck out of the scammer or force him to improvise from his script, because he is unlikely to know that there even is such an office (there is) or how to contact them.  And once they are scared or confused, you'll know it and you'll be in the driver's seat.

This week he was using the name Allan Parker.  He called on Feb 20.  Heavy Indian accent, so sounds like the same guy.

Today is 02-24-2014. I recieved a phone call early in the morning from some guy 100% with an Iranian or Arminian accent (since I am too from that part of the world & can tell on the accent) calling himself Justin Conner working with the IRS department and left me a message to call him back urgently. I called back at this number 1-585-310-3285 and Baxter Cruze voice mail came, saying this is an IRS investigation department. Left couple of messages to see if they have the balls to call me back. SCAM written all over them. Be Aware and don't give them or anyone your personal information especailly over the phone. IRS does not make phone calls like this. If IRS needs you for something, then they will inform you in writing. I will report them to the FBI.

Voice message left by a man with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from IRS. Very tough to understand because of the man's accent: "This message is intended for {my full name}. {First name}, the very second you receive this message, I need you or your attorney {mumbled word} to return the call. This {mumble word} is an extremely time-sensitive {mumbled words}. My name is Allen Drew {name was mumbled so this is just a guess} and I am calling from the IRS, Internal Revenue Service. {Mumble words} My number is 585-310-3285. I repeat my number is 585-310-3285. Don't try to disregard this message and {mumbled words} illegal take place {mumbled words}. We have determined that there is a deficiency in your income tax. Good bye and take care {my full name}.

Impersonating a Law Enforcement officer or Federal agency officer is a crime! Most of these callers are not in the US though, rather being in India or Pakistan. You can report these calls..

•If you owe federal taxes, or think you might owe taxes, hang up and call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you with your payment questions.
•If you don’t owe taxes, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
