I received an automated call from this phone number today. After almost being lured into a worse scam, where a scammer actually comes into your home, I am not calling anyone, nowhere, no time, unless I originate the call. It is a full-time job for lots of folks to try to earn their money at the expense of other people. They have no conscience whatsoever. And, you people who stated that the "do not call" number is a farce, are right on!  Forget about registering. I've had my phone numbers registered since it started and still get these calls. You just can't trust anyone anymore!  That's really sad.

robo call telling me they are updating/verifying my phone number. For what? So 5000 other scammers can call me too? They already DO. Good Lord, I get 3-5 calls DAILY with the "press 1 for your FREE Google update" scam already. I hereby wish a pox on any and all telemarketing scammers that the fleas of 1,000 dead camels infest their houses!

Yes. The use of automated calls is governed at the federal level by the Federal Communications Act and FCC regulations. The FCC's regulations permit automated calls that "are made for a commercial purpose but [do] not include or introduce an unsolicited advertisement or constitute a telephone solicitation." VoltDelta is conducting automated calls for Directory Assistance verification, which do not constitute "telephone solicitations." Verifying my number and then selling it to any and all who will pay.

I just blocked the ENTIRE 585 AREA CODE.  Currently, I have 34 area codes blocked along with 50-60 individual numbers.  For my business line, I have the Digitone Call Blocker.  Now my office phone does not even ring when a blocked call comes in.

For my home line, I have the new Panasonic wireless phone that blocks 250 numbers.  Awesome!

Agree with a previous poster.  The fact that this service is wanting to make contact with a LIVE person indicates that their goal is more than simply to "verify" the number.  

What they likely are doing is, at the very least, categorizing numbers based on the likelyhood that a live person will answer (or will return a message).  Such categories would allow more efficent autodialing or would allow creating different lists of numbers with different prices (price number lists to telemarketers based on the "live contact likelihood score").  The higher the score oc a given number, the higher the price.

This caller calls with a recorded message about confirming listing information. They fail to have an operator on the line when the recording is played, in violation of federal law.

A woman on the other line called asking for our accounts revealable for one of our locations and I kept asking her for more information. She wasn't able to provide anything besides the name of the location. No address, no suite number, no other helpful information. It sounded like a sales call and overall it sounds like someone just trying to pull a scam.

you know we all say the same things about calls like this . we do the same thing and go in line to look up just who is calling us . it does nothing to stop the dip sticks from calling .
you could be on the DNC list but becqause they are not trying to sell you some right out they can call you .

the GOV will not do any thing about co's calling people they can't to many loop holes .
we all get the same calls from the same scamers ,you know the google listing up dates , the CO's that can save you money on your electric bills , the credit card processing co's calling and when you call the numbers they have coming up on your caller ID 99.9% of the time it is a BS number any way .
they are all just looking to scam you in one way or another if they were up right businesses they would not have BS numbers .
you can ask or even tell them not to call you any more and does that stop them from calling NO it does not stop any of them .
CO's like 21 prime have been sued for scamming and they are still in business they close there doors and just reopen the next week .

Robotic number claims to be from Volt Delta of Rochester, NY (although thier website shows the actual address just outside Rochester - 3750 Monroe Ave. Suite 4B  Pittsford, NY 14534 )- calling to verify the number for directory services. (i.e. verify the number to sell to other solicitors). They give a number of 585-362-4104 to put your name on a do not call list. Or hit 1 to remove your number.

Recorded message: phishing scam to try to "verify" and harvest phone numbers.

How does calling, leaving a message and hanging-up verify anything about a number listed?

They are phishing for active numbers to sell to telemarketers.

Lucky for me my answering machine and fax are not quite hooked up properly (and I may leave it that way). They got the fax sound first, but it will go to voicemail, but solicitors always hang up. I also have TWC for phone, so adding them to my blocked numbers.

I called Volt Delta - I have Time/Warner as my carrier - my number is unpublished/unlisted, but my name got out on a list anyway to VoltDelta.  T/W indicated it was in error - DUH!  AND I'm paying 4.95 a month to have my number unpublished/unlisted.  What morons.

I got a call from this number this afternoon at 4:31.  It was a robo call from Volt Delta LLC and the prerecorded message stated that they were calling from Rochester, New York and they said something about a phone directory, checking to see if this number worked.  The message also said that we could call the same number back to be removed from the directory..  

Got a call from these clowns this evening while I was driving to an appointment. I was forwarding my home number to my mobile because I was waiting for an important call. Instead, I got a robo call telling me VoltDelta was confirming my number for their directory. WTH? MY NUMBER IS UNLISTED! They'd better not be giving out my unlisted number. That's why it's unlisted (duh!). I tried to call the number that they left to talk to a real person (855-815-7632), but their live call center had closed about 2 hours earlier at 4pm EST. Where did they get my unlisted number, why are they calling me and why is my number in their directory? Jerks.
