- john43085Got a telephone voice message today (April 22, 2008) on my cellular telephone from Justin Holmes of Direct Energy (602) 516-1061. Mr. Holmes told me to call him at 800-968-3503 extension 7716 concerning my natural gas account.
It's just a telemarketer trying to get me to switch my natural gas account to a different company; my account is with Columbia Gas. Such a switch would cost me more money and generate a commission for Direct Energy and Mr. Holmes.
As you suspect, I will not call the moron.- Caller: Direct Energy

- PaulCalled (Mon-Aug 11,2008-10:08am NY time)at work inquiring to speak to the person in charge of the electrical account. I replied to remove my number off their list (informing we're on the donotcall.gov list)and to never call this number again. They asked if there are any other numbers I'd like removed after which the guy apologized for the incovenience. I hung up.
I wonder if the donotcall.gov list is indeed implemented.- Caller: AGR

I don't think so!!!!!

- JenniferCalled our business asking for the person responsible for our electric bills - I asked him if he was looking for our AP dept and he said "the person responsible for making the decision on our electric." I informed him that we currently are under a year contract with Rochester Gas & Electric and that as "Voice Your Choice" is over, we CANNOT sign up to go with another supplier UNTIL the contract is up when "Voice Your Choice" starts in the late fall again. (Coming from previously working at a marketing company - once you advise them that you are currently locked into a contract, they LEGALLY have to stop the sales pitch and can't contact you again until your contract is coming up.) Rather than ask me when the contract is up, he continues to hound me to speak with the person that makes the decision - who wasn't in to begin with - it was OBVIOUS to me that this person was not calling from Rochester, NY or anywhere near here otherwise they would have known that everyone out here is LOCKED DOWN for an ENTIRE YEAR with their supplier and only opens the window to switch for a very short time once a year and we are nowhere near that time frame. I offered the telemarketer the only solution left which was to put him through to our president's voicemail as he was out - when I went to transfer him to our president's voicemail and he thought that he was already in the middle of the transfer, he started making some rude comments about me - I came back to the line and stated "excuse me?" and repeated what I had heard him say, then politely told him to have a nice day and disconnected the call.

- Rochester, NYWe get this call EVERY DAY at our small business. It takes us away from customers & my staff is really getting fed up. We have tired the "do not call list", but they say it will take 3 weeks...so we keep getting the calls.

- CA cell, resident of CT| 1 replyI got a call from these people, too. What bothered me was that they called my cell phone (my California number) but knew that I live in Connecticut. The guy talked about how we were eligible for a 7% discount on our bill if we agreed to a fixed payment plan through the end of the year and that this was a "program" under CL&P (connecticut light and power) that we were eligible for. Didn't seem right to me, so I said it wasn't a good time to talk and they called back again the next day. Ugh!
- LAMET replies to CA cell, resident of CTSOUNDS LIKE A SLAMMING SCAM - they call and try to get you to switch providers - even when told NO - NOT INTERESTED - they do it anyway.
It usually happens with your telephone long distance provider.
As a precaution keep an eye on your gas and electric accounts and contact your provider with a warning.
Slamming": Slamming occurs when customers have their telephone service switched to a new carrier without their permission. You may receive a call from a telemarketer asking you to switch your long distance provider. Although you say you are not interested in switching, your long distance provider is changed anyway. - CherThey have been calling here a few times a week. Hangs up after I answer the phone. I am in CT.
- Dman| 1 replyHello, I work for a company that sells alternative electric and gas... I do not want to get accused of spamming so I will keep the company name witheld.
Our company has very strict rules on slamming and telemarketing. If we do it we are terminated - PERIOD. These companies are giving legit alternative energy companies a really bad rap. They are out for a quick buck and do not have any consideration to the end consumer. This is too bad because as some of you know - you can save a substantial amount per month if you choose the right companies. There are a few good ones and I work for one of them.
My question is.... Some of you choose alternative suppliers already, how do you find us? Where do you look when your contract is up and you are ready to shop? I am only asking because I would like to approach customers without having them think I am that rude pushy salesmen? These people are making it bad for the good companies. - Dman replies to DmanJust noticed that this post is a little old.... so if anyone is listening the company I work for is http://www.napower.com/networkenergysolutions
Again we do not slam customers nor do we telemarket customers. We use direct sales and internet marketing. We do not use teaser rates or bait and switch programs. We approach our customers and offer them a very competitive rate that stays competitive while attempting to keep our customers with us for years to come. If they choose not to save energy with us.... simply cancel with no termination fee. I would like to hear how we can approach customers without pushing you into our savings.
