They spoof from the Arizona department of revenues actually number but then tell you to call back this number. It’s a scam.

I just got the Voicemail and called it back. woman asked for the number i got the call on. She then asked me for my SS# hsahahahaha I stated Umm not a chance. She then gave me a fake case number and I hung up. Def fake

I gave these scammers my EIN # and the last 4 digits of SSN and mailing address what can they do with this information?

I would suggest that you take the time to read the information at the FTC website on identity theft and follow those directions.

I have received multiple calls over the past year that appear to come from 602.255.3381 which is the real AZDOR number.  Sometimes I just get the voice mail without ever having the phone ring.  Each has a pleasant-sounding recorded female voice saying "This call is from the Arizona Dept of Revenue.  We are trying to reach you.  Please call us back at 602.542.1048 at your earliest convenience."  I get this call about one time per month (I have six right now that are sitting in my voice mails back to November 2023).  I always let them go to voice mail.  It is spam and they are spoofing the AZDOR phone number to send them out and make them look and sound legit.
The VM that I saved from 11/2023 was a voicemail only, no phone call was made to me then, I only received the VM.  That call appeared to come from 602.542.0000.  Different voice on the message and it was a longer message first in English then repeated in Spanish.  So in 2024, they began spoofing the real AZDOR phone number to make the call look like it is coming in from them, but they still want a return call to the fake 602.542.1048 number.
The thing to recognize here is that these bad players are getting better at making themselves look legit.  It is up to you to be exceptionally careful anytime anyone calls you asking for personal information.  It seems like common sense but the fact that this continues speaks to the fact that people must still be falling for it.
I think if you have any concerns, call the actual AZDOR number and talk with them directly.

I am getting calls from the number that others report.  Based on my research, I believe these people are scammers as the AZ Department of Revenue will never call a taxpaper about any tax related item without first attempting to communicate in writing.   Don't answer the call and don't return a voice mail.   If for some reason they do reach you, do not give them  or verify any personal information, especially your SSN or a Tax ID Number.   Say nothing and hang up.   You may wish to then contact the AZ Department of Revenue at the contact number provided on their website to let them know about the calls.

It's called spoofing, scammers use real phone numbers of businesses to trick you into thinking its legit
