- RonSCAMMERS from Card Services...they will refuse to give you a valid company address or don't know it. They claim Equifax release my information to them...Ya, right. Last week they called from a different number... Linda said to give them a call...they love made up credit card information, the high pitched whistles, funny recordings or anything else you want to toss their way...Make sure you use *67606-755-0236 or *67989-623-6505 to make the calls...Enjoy.

We got this call a while ago, got them blocked now because of the info on this site. Thank You to all of you who keep this site current.
As for the SIT (Special Information Tones) from the Phone Co., they do not work with the digital services. The voice (analog) side, and the data (digital) side are different, and the difference can be detected by most current Robo-dialers. The SIT are sent out by the phone co. on the digital side, but when you pick up the phone ALL your information goes out through the analog side. This makes those sounds analog, not digital as the phone co. messages and tones are, and they are now not acted on. Say good-bye to the Tele-Zapper's and their relatives. I'm glad to hear that Some people Are still able to get some good results from these tones though.
On a more positive side, we have been using a program on our 'puter called, "PhoneTray FREE", from TraySoft. The current program being offered from them however is NOT free. The latest Free version (1.39) might still be available somewhere on the internet though. It does all the stuff that Nomorobo does, but YOU are in complete control of the calls that you get. You do need a computer, with a data/ fax/ VOICE modem to make it work properly, and you need to have CID service from your phone co. on your line. We also have "Private Call Blocking" on our line to require a name and number be allowed to our CID before any calls get through to start with, even if they might be spoofed. Our 'puters $hit Li$t of blocked calls is now passed 360, and still counting. Some are even whole exchanges or whole area codes (like the 202 area code)! The calls keep coming, .... but our 'puter keeps doing its job.
If you know the caller is a Telemarketer (TM), just answer and then quickly hang up again. They get NO information and you don't have to talk to them, At All . It's YOUR phone not theirs! Don't let it become a burden to you. Use it smartly. TMs make lists of #'s that are: active; where a real person (not a machine) answers; when a person does answer, how long they stay on the line (ka-CHING! ka-CHING!); and if they interact with the caller (ka-CHING! ka-CHING! ka-CHING! ka-CHING!). EACH of these categories score points for their list. This list is sold for $$$$ to other TMs.
What do you think they do while you play the radio into the phone? Wait? REALLY? That's a laugh! They just open another line from the 1000's they use every minute and make another call!! DUH?!! AND, they are raking in the $$$ at your expense, using YOUR phone!! Noise-cancelling head-sets make those police whistles quiet, and messing with them other ways still makes THEM $$$! Just let it ring. they usually hang-up at 4 rings. Their auto-dialer usually calls many numbers at once and the first ones that gets answered in that period of time get their attention. The rest get hung-up on. Sometimes only the first number answered is all they pay attention to, and ALL the rest get dumped. (YAY!!)
The best thing to do if you do NOT recognize the # is let it ring, and check the # out here. If you DO need to answer, say hello once and, if you have only a dead silence on the other end, it's most likely a Scamming TM. Hang Up > IMMEDIATELY<!! Do not give their equipment time to pick up. Get the services mentioned above added to your phone service so you have at least Some idea whose is calling you, and you can keep track of them.
Use your phone wisely and keep informed about the scams, like the bogus "Microsoft Tech Service" caller who says your computer is sending out spam and he'll fix it for you for $180-$250 (after He sabotages it so it won't work if you don't pay).
Good Luck - JackCard Services. Another scam.

- MichiganDidn't answer. Left VM that wanted to lower my rates. Now blocked! Best thing I did was buy my Panasonic Phones. They block 250 numbers, calls with no number (Out of area), and whole Area Codes. You can also turn off the first ring, so the phone never rings on your end! Great Investment!

- blondemomJust got a call from this number, I now do not answer and look the number up here. Great service and advice from this site, thanks everyone!
This may go along with a letter I received asking to prove I paid my 20l3 real estate taxes. Said I needed to send proof of payment, ie cancelled check, MO or credit card receipt, or they would start "procedures". RIGHT. Sent the letter to attorney general and state attorney. We will see.
Is there any connection between do not call list and this site, the state and feds should monitor this site and go after the repeat offenders. Oops did I just say that? What was I thinking?- Caller: Private caller
- SheilaAs a rule of thumb, I don't pick up on unknown or private calls because 9 times out of 10 they are telemarketers and they never, ever, ever leave a message. They usually call a few times and then "forget" about me.
- Caller: Cardholder Services
- Call type: Prank
- The CottageSame as everyone else, received a call from a private number, I didn't pick up and I don't have my answering machine turned on so they couldn't leave a message. My first stop is always this site and 99.9% of the time the numbers are confirmed as being spam.
- Caller: private number scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- here is why... replies to 606-755-0236You answered, so now the robot can enter in the database when a live person is likely to answer at your number. Those are much more valuable when they sell the list.
