bs!  they are scammers and ripoffs.  go awatch some utube videos about how they operate.  i was calling what i thought was "vipre" one day last year and somehow got them after being transferred and they told me how my computer was full of viruses and my computer was brand new with a top of the line virus protection and internet security installed.  they tried to charge me a bunch of money to "fix" my computer.  i finally got a hold of the real "vipre" people and they told me that i would NEVER be transferred somewhere else and that guru aid was a total ripoff.  i got my bank to cancel my credit card which guru aid charged (that is the only thing they are good at).  so you either work for them or you aren't too bright.

i answered and they told me they were from guru aid calling about my computer.  i told them to f off and hung up and they still call every day.  idiots!

This is a company called Guruaid. For a yearly fee, the keep your computer running and get rid of virus and bad stuff that slow your computer. I have used them for 5 years and they have been completely trustworthy as far as I'm concerned anyway. I don't have very many computer skills and I'm thankfull to have someone to fall back on when I have a problem. They do have to have control of your computer while they're working on it but they require you to be in front of your computer while they're working. There is a place where you can click if you're feeling uncomfortable which disconnects them immediatley. I couldn't get along without them!

Got a call today. Left a voicemail saying to please accept their next call because they're trying to call back after being disconnected while talking about my computer. I don't have computer problems. Sounds like they were fishing for business and/or phishing for passwords. Scam either way!

I never called them. And BTW I will never do: I can solve my computer problems.

These idiots keep calling and asking for my dad. I have  explained a thousand times that he died more than a year ago and we don't have a computer. Very upsetting for my 83 year old mother. How do I take legal action against them?

The # was calling us at 530AM!!!! By the time we realized the phone was ringing it had woken the kids.  My husband picked up and hung up so the phone in the kitchen would stop (only phone with ringer ON). Well they called right again!  So I answer and he starts saying something about computer help and I immediatly stop him to point out its 530 am!! Everyone's sleeping!!  He then claims they received a call from this # for computer help.  I get irate and say no one called you! Everyone is (was) sleeping!!! Don't ever call here again or I'm calling the police (then hung up).  Thanks for ruining my day and waking the baby!!!

I was given this number to contact Firefox by Costco Concierge. When I asked if this was Firefox they said yes, they work for Firefox and when their Mountain View, CA phone lines are busy the call is automatically directed to them in India. They could fix my problem, all they had to do was get into my computer. Never told them I had a problem. They called again today. I have an unlisted phone number. Told them not interested in dealing with them, I had no problems with my computer since I repair them. They hung up.  Went on their website and my spyware warned me it was not a trustworthy site

These people called once at 12:30 in the moning - I work at the hospital and had just gotten home an gotten to sleep and have to get up at 5am. They said they ha a call from this number needing help with the computer, I told them [***], no one calle you from this number, I was so pissed I said "You freak, you're lying nobody ever called you from here, hope you can live wtih youself, you liar!" I can smell a scam a mile away.

Two weeks later, at 2:30 in the morning!!!! Another call. I am so worrie its from my daughter, traveling across the country I answer, gosh its got to be bad, right? Same ass wipe "We got a call from this number..." etc. I lit into the hole and told him that he NEVER got a call from thisnumber, I would never call their sorry [***], I BUILD computers for hospitals and he;s a [***] liar, and did he know it was f'n 2:30 in the morning? Even if I DID call, which I did not, why would you call me back at 2:30 in the moning? I told him I would repot him to the FBI, since this was a fraud attempt across state lines. He'll probably call again.

Most of these calls are coming out of India and Pakistan using spoofed numbers to appear to be here when they are not. Microsoft did catch one down in Florida though and is suing them.  Your best bet is to invest in a call blocking device or phone.  You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

The best thing you can do to get the calls to stop is buy a Panasonic telephone system (under $100) and there is an option where you can block any phone number. On top of that it is TALKING caller ID phone. The best phone I've ever had (I am not a salesperson) Caller ID says it's from Russell Kentucky at 606-834-1033.

Oh man this number. I called a scammer with my google voice number they must have by passed it and found my real one (Doubt it) or they are just being crap heads and trying to scam me. Was installing renewal McAfee and having a problem - call to McAfee was somehow redirected to Guru but they identified themselves as being McAfee.  After explaining the problem I was told that they would need to take control of my computer to solve the installation problem.  (In the past, having the same issue,  McAfee also needed to take control and quickly had the renewal completed - free of charge)  However, this time I was told that there were many problems with my computer which would not allow the installation - but they could be fixed but not without a charge of $150!  When I replied that I could not afford that - the charge was reduced to $100!  Like an idiot I agreed and gave them my credit card number.  The cursor jumped around the screen and eventually the person with the heavy accent announced that it was fixed and installed. And then tried to sell me an annual contract for computer service!  I did not feel comfortable with the entire thing and called another McAfee number - of course, reached the real McAfee where there is no charge for installation assistance.  They were aware of Guru and associated problems.  Bottom line - cancelled credit card and got new account number etc.  Now receive frequent calls from their number - which I have blocked!

Scam Artists All. The. Way. Do not deal with these people saying they are from GuruAid. THEY ARE NOT! Guru-Aid will NEVER call you, according to their techs. They are scheming dishonest lying cheating stealing no good cheaters with no soul. They do not give up. They are unprofessional and rude when you get into discussion (accusing them of scamming). The only way to deal with them is to block every number they call you from. Hang up if you accidentally answer. As long as you stay on the line they think they can charm you. Scum from the word GO. They need to be taken out and shot between the eyes.
