Question to all of you.....do you have Verizon? My room mate has only opened one account in this state since moving here a few weeks ago and it was with Verizon. It is the only company that has his present employer on file. The guy on the phone had his social security number, old address and present employer.....when I called the number back, they hung up on me and then the harassing calls started to me along with computer generated messages stating my bank account was frozen. I tried to explain this to Verizon and let them know the connection I am curious to know if this happened to anyone else and if everyone is Verizon customers or from different carriers. I just got a call from "Sam" who said he was from a Technical support company from Toronto. When I asked him questions he was getting pretty rude. I laughed nervously at one point, and he asked, "Why are yo laughing, ma'am?" which I thought was very strange. I didn't even understand him most of the time. At one time I asked him if he was calling from India, and he repeated that he was calling from the "Toronto Branch" and that he was a technicial, who was receiving reports of viruses corrupting my computer. He really sounded like he was lying. The connection was bad too, and I kept hearing other voices in the background. He was also extremely condescending. He said things like, "I have already told you two times, ma'am." Totally inappropriate. I went as far as typing the www.fastheal.com in my run window, but wouldn't click on it and told him I was not comfortable with his call and hung up. I still feel violated by this creep.

Just got a call from this number, the usual computer virus story. This time I played dumb. The caller asked to go to my computer to turn it on.
To make a long story short, I told him he must be right my computer does not seem to be working. we went through 4 reboot simulations, then I told him this computer has not worked for over half a year, but my Macbook seems to be working OK.
He hung up in disgust, I finished my diner.
His time wasted, 15 minutes and 35 seconds
If we all did this, it could be considered our good deed for the day.

10/03/13 - Guy called. Said he there was an issue with my computer, that there was a virus found on it. Stated that my computer was sending out signals and that he was going to help me walk through the process of taking out the virus. (As I played, like I did not know better), He prompted me along the way.
1. Can you go to your computer?
2. Can you go to the control?
3. Can you to (Not sure what he said, sounded like he was from India).

I said yes, then he said,

4. What do you see? (I said, I see a screen)
5. Can you type this in? (I said, OK)

Then he gave me a series of alphabet letters. All mixed. Obviously access to his computer...

After 20 minutes of (Me playing dumb and dragging the conversation along), he began to say sexual things. like, "I want to #$%^& you" and I want to "Do this %^&*(" and he was whispering it. I asked him to speak louder that I could not hear him, he was above a whisper .. but would not speak very loud. I kept saying, "HUH? HUH? What ?? Poke me? What???)...

I am very angry about this caller... Please be aware!!!

I am fortunate that I receive Caller ID on my phone at no extra cost and I never answer the phone if I do not recognize the number. I also never respond to "Unknown Number"  If I mistakenly answer one of those calls, I do one of two things. I ask stupid questions, "Do I need to wash my car?, How many make the amount you ask for? etc. The other thing I do is ask them to wait a second, someone is at the door and set the phone down and leave it.

They claimed to be from Telstra head office and that our phone line would be disconnected. The reason varied from downloading stuff to sending out spam. The period of disconnection increased from one month to six months to a year over the course of the conversation. The woman got sick of me, so I was passed on to a person who was first called himself her supervisor, then the technical manager at Telstra and then the head of IT. In a very similar fashion to the Microsoft scam, they did not respond to logical questions, like which computer, or which IP address, and continued on in exactly the same style until they started to ask me to alter stuff in the computer and I got bored, asked them if they had finished their employment with Microsoft and hung up. They called again today and I got cross and asked them to take me off their list, at which point they hung up... hopefully not to be heard from again, though I doubt that somehow!!

Keep receiving those annoying phone calls, when I respond, they hang up...

The caller. New York ( displayed on our phone as ID.), called us  many times last 2 or 3 years & used  (607) as area code & New York as its ID. & claimed today are from IRS. Today it called us again @ 11:11, A.M. 10/21/3014
When I returned the call. This unwanted number is not in service. People reported this number to www.800notes.com since  06/24/2014. I hope the FCC find it out and fine them for $100,000.00  to $ 200,000.00. USD

This caller,212-662-9874, New York,  it called us before, I reported to, www.800notes.com, www.donot cal.gov as well as www.fcc.gov/complaints before, now disappeared from www.800notes.com. Why?
It used other to called us today.The caller, New York ( displayed as ID on our phone.), called us @13:41.10/21/2014. Many people reported to www.800notes.com since 09/02 2014. Some reported that government DNC  ( Do not call ) registration did not do anything to this unwanted number. Some said It was from NDC ( national Democratic Committee ) called people.
I missed the call, I don't know who called, but when I returned calls twice. This unwanted number is not in services.
I will report to FTC & FCC. FCC can find out who made the call & fine them for 4100,000.00 to $200,000.0 0 USD.
This morning, I receive call from 607739-8700, it claimed they are IRS & filed suit against us. Bot numbers are false.

Bunch of [***] Indian IT scam artists that reside in New York and they have connections in Mumbai and want to rob you blind by making quick Identity theft for various.
If you get a call from them report it to  FTC immediately at 1-888-382-1222.

they specialise in abuse. I have just had one of the umpteen number of calls, claiming to be from my phone and broadband provider. When I told them in very colourful language to go away, they hung up. A minute later she rang back to complain that *i* had abused her, and she called me an effing [***]! oh the irony.....

Caller ID said New York, left a message that it was the last chance as the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me

Got a call from this number and they left a VM.  Was a really bad Computer generated voice supposedly from the IRS saying that this was a final notice and that a lawsuit was soon to be filed....

We had a silent call at 7.50 from a 607 number when I called back they said number out of service

I got a call from this number from a foreign person like east Indian accent. He called every month and wanted me to turn on my computer and wanted me to download TeamViewer and once I am on that he wants me to click on log in and tell him the number and password. I think he is a scam and tried to steal my personal information but I didn't give him the number when I log in or password. He was very pushy and told me that he will give me a money back from computer problem. Someone need to stop these people.

If you only 'think' that this caller is a scammer, after the previous comments, you will be victimized when he calls again--and he will! The gullible are the ones cheated.

I'm in Michigan and just received the same IRS message. These scammers are trying everything to steal from us.

They called and pretended to be the IRS. Scam scam don't give them any information. If you did close all accounts scam scam why am I yelling

Called and said they were the IRS and had a lawsuit against me.
