This number has called my home repeatedly.

11/30/15 - Received call from this number. When I answered they hung up.

12-01-15 - 8:18 pm. They did not day nothing, it was quiet at the other end.

At least twice a week (often every day and sometimes several times a day) I receive a call from this number on my work phone (which I have had for almost two months).  I answer and there is no one there and they hang up, I don't answer and a voicemail is left that doesn't say anything.

Repeated calls and hang up as soon as it is answered.

I get 30 calls a day from number 6078214179, I answer say hello they listen and never say anything. I want them to quit calling me and remove my number from their calling list, before I have to call the police to file complaints for harassment. I am a disabled person and do not have any student loans at this time. Please HELP!

I get a call from that number everyday.   I answer and they hang up    They leave no message either

I have no idea who they are, but for this to keep happening I'm sure it's a scam.

I could barely understand the caller. She was a young, black female. That's fine and all but what was funny and I had to hang up as I was starting to laugh uncontrollably in her ear was "hi, I'm looking for a John." That happens to also be my first name. Thanks to others, I think I know why this company is calling, although I do not agree with owing a previous school any money.

I got the same call to my cell. They asked for my son and then refused any info.... blocking that call.

They do collections for a lot of colleges, student loans etc....

They are a bill collector for unpaid/defaulted student loans for several colleges.

Phising for information, asks for social security number to look up account.  Looking up a similar name, hoping someone with that name will pay that persons bill.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
