I answered my phone like it was a business.  The woman asked for me by name and I responded, "extension please" then she said she didn't realize she was calling a business, she'll update their records.  Crossing my fingers that will happen but I doubt it.

Bought a decent call blocker and and had this ( 609 ) area code already blocked.

They called my office and when I answered the line was dead. I realize that they just keep calling from other numbers because the reports from other people on here have written sound very familiar to calls I have gotten in the past.

Caller's id says "Breast Cancer Society".  Fake breast cancer supporters?  After answering and some lady asking for the owner's name twice, she went on a strange spiel about donating money. (Thiry and fifty dollar pledges. Holy moly.) When she asked for my name, I declined, and politely tried to talk my way out of this fishy scam. She transferred me over to another lady saying that this will ensure we don't get a call back later today.

Told the second lady, "not interested.".   She hung up on me after that. :). Shows how "legit" they are.

Called yesterday from 609-232-8008.

Hang Up... I blocked.

Called again on 9/18/2017, this time with the Caller ID name the same as the number.

Spam call from breast cancer  reported to FTC

Scammers have been blocked.

Had this trash "charity" blocked back in 2016!!! Haven't heard from these M_F for a while, but I see this number popping up again in my "blocked" files. Please keep calling, A_H, all your calls are blocked and deleted by my wonderful smart phone app!! Long Live Technology!!

"Alice" from "United Breast Cancer" keeps calling and when I ask to be removed from calling list she cheerfully says "no problem, I can do that" and then never does.  I'm on DoNotCall registry and told her that if she represented an actual charity that she wouldn't have my number but she insisted that charities are allowed to call people on the DoNotCall registry.  WTF?  Alice needs to fall down a rabbit hole.

Alice is correct. Charities are not required to screen against the Federal DNC list. A few states have added charities to the state DNC list so you would need to check the rules for your state to see if charities are required to screen.

If Alice actually was employed by the charity, then yes, they do not have to scrub lists.  If they are a call center hired by the charity, they don't have to scrub lists as well, but they are required to stop calling when told to do so.  In most cases that request goes in one ear and out the other (literally in the case of people working these call centers since there is nothing in between the ears to stop it).
