they called my phone, about someone else; and it's some kind of as-if-legal-beagle (as if "federal", but no specifics) scam.  They say to call this number back.  I won't, but why doesn't our sold-out government hunt down these fraudulent callers and bury them in anthills?

My thought exactly! There are so many of these scammer calls because they're getting away with it!

this call was for my relation, who is out of  touch, but they called me on a brand new number, WTF!!?? I called them back to tell them NOT TO CALL ME AGAIN ONLY TO GET A VOICEMAIL.

Called me for my sister . She said she's never used my number before ! Said if she didn't call them back the would press charges !

Called and threaten to take legal actions against me.  They also call my family members whom I do not ever use as references.  I called the number back and a female answered as if she was receiving a personal phone call.  Not business like at all.  This is a scam and fraud.   If a company is going to take legal action,  they will not call to tell you that...they will do just that!  Do not fall for this bogus crap!

Maybe they would like a call from the FCC and the Attorney General?    Go ahead and cease your voluntary communication!  This is not my name and my cell number is  on the do not call list.

We got the call about  ______, a grandson of ours,  that would be prosecuted if not called back immediately.

I got this call on my office phone and cell phone at the same time.  The message is the same saying it is a federal legal matter and I or my counsel should call...no details, no specifics.  They claim to be a collector.

"Federal Law designates this matter as a confidential notice for Courtney F Myers.  If you are not Courtney F Myers you are asked to hang up now....... Hello this is Susan Fitz, unfortunately your file has been escalated to our office this morning due to your failure to respond. Before the end of business today, and it is Monday the 12th of December, we do need to know, was this was done intentionally or was this an oversight. I suggest you communicate or have your attorney contact us no later than 7:00 pm today. The phone number is 612-314-8859. Again, it would be who of you to call before we are asked to cease voluntary communication. 612-314-8859  We may speak with you or counsel."
I am on the do not call list.
I called back and a gentleman hung up on me when I told him they had a number not associated with that individual. I called back a second time and spoke to a lady and she said she would remove my number from that person's information.
The individual was a friend of mine but is not my friend any longer and I do not know if she has put my number down for any reason.
Should I change my phone number?

They left a message  on voicemail  talking  about my cousin  name which I haven't  talk to in years in she don't have my number they was talking about federal  something

Call blocker would be a better choice.  Also do NOT pick up on numbers you
do not recognize.  This Susan Fitz persona is a well known debt scammer.  Calls
from a variety of numbers.  Simply ignore and block her.

The infamous  Susan Fit/Fitz/Fitsch/Fisk (or whatever she's calling herself now) of DRS strikes again!

In any event,

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.

calling about my daughter to relatives..same message about legal counsel etc...

Received a call , didn't answer, went to voicemail and they left a message trying to sound official however they never left their company name, said if you are not "xyz" please hang up, then it went on to say something about contacting your attorney etc.  I called it back from another phone and after about 5 rings a man answered and said "frank stratton, how can i help you"??? Sounds like a scam to me.

They would call saying its a legal matter for my sister advising her to call back or have her attorney call or they will seek legal action.

"Susan Fitz" called and left a message saying it would behoove me to call back no later than 7 PM today or they will cease communication.  Didn't say where she was calling from or what it was regarding, also called a personal acquaintance. They can write to me if they have any official business. Seems like a debt collector or scam.

Susan Fitz called me today with the same message as all the others listed. Didn't say my name or give her company name.  As soon as I listened to the message I filed a complaint on www.donotcall.gov.  My phone has been registered for years but it seems this past year I have received tons of numbers I don't recognize.  I block each of them but they still keep calling from other numbers!! Aggravating.

Called my cell and left a legal message for Robert Brown and it said if I was not Robert Brown to hang up.  I blocked their number.  I do not know any Robert Brown
