Derick Smith call and said I didn't pay a loan in the amount of $699.00 from American Cash from back in April. I told him, I never had a loan with this company and he told me the money was put in my hands.  I don't even know where this company is located and I definitely did not take out a loan.  He told me that a warrant would be issued for my arrest and that I would be pick up tomorrow, that I would spend 21 days in jail and when I went to court it would cost me over $8,000.00. I told him, that I didn't have the money, so, I guess the police will be picking you up.  He just became irrirated and starting yelling, so, I just hung up, but, he call back later, asking the same questions. They are running a scam, I know from experience. I notify the police department and sheriff department where I live.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

After getting several phone calls from this number asking for an employee that is deceased, I got fed up today and asked to speak with a supervisor. The caller placed me on hold and picked me back up saying he was a supervisor! I asked what his name was, and he said Jimmy. When I asked his last name he said Smith. I told him I didn't believe him, and that he needed to put a supervisor on the phone. He kept trying to act like he was someone else, and then he hung up. I have caller ID so I called back, and he answered. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, he hung up. I called back, and a woman answered. When I asked to speak with a supervisor SHE hung up. I am going to continue to call them until they get me a supervisor, or they get the hint. LOL

    * File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
    * File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in

    Common India-based scam.

    General rule:
If you receive a call from someone with an Indian accent either a.  threatening you or b.  offering you something, you know it’s a scam and you should hang up immediately.

There are no supervisors, they are all scammers working with each other to scam you out of money.   Waste of time to ask an Indian scammer for a supervisor.   They are all in the muck together.

    Call blocker might help.
