received call 8-18 2009 from 1-615-348-1930 at 4pm. guy asked if lady of the house was at home, i asked what was it any of his business, he hung up, i tried to call the number back, recording said number was unavailable.

I just got a call from 615-348-1930. I played along. It's a rather clever computerized conversation generator. Amazing, really. It acts like a person when you interrupt it, says, "I'm sorry?" when it can't "understand" what you're saying, but launches back into its spiel quickly. Beware. While this organization, like many others, does do what it claims to do, the percentage of your donation that actually goes to assist police officers is PITIFULLY small. Most of it goes to pay the executive director of the foundation, his wife, kids, pets, etc. AND to pay for the sophisticated means they use to separate the "lady of the house" from her money. It's ridiculous to me and lost of other people. But the persistence and sheer number of calls they make continues to generate donations and enrich those scam artists who take legitimacy right up to the line and occasionally cross into deception. They use your sense of pity, community pride, appreciation for public servants, and even exploit your patriotism to enrich themselves and their unscrupulous families.

donate to the website or call them... www.wafop.com ...if you are suspicious of it.  It's a legit number.

I'm glad someone is willing to work these dangerous jobs. However the victims of the crimes they are trying to prevent are more deserving than than their slush fund. Legitimate charities rarely have call parties, it's too expensive and they are using their funds for other things.

whenever they talk to you , it is a computer that interrupts and comes up with an apropriate answer...haven't figured this one out yet...they call every day...someone is burning up the phone lines for nothing.......

A scam, using the police to intimidate you. The majority of the money doesn't go to the cops, especially cops in Tenn. Do not donate!!!

Call today from 615-348-1930 on my private cell number. I am a night worker and sleep during day just just on basis of invasion of privacy would never donate to this call .

Many calls this week and last and I am on do not call registry. I do not and have not given to this organization and I want the calls stopped.

"Found" in the caller ID probably is short for "foundation".  I've gotten calls from a couple of other groups always wanting donations for kids to attend a concert, etc.

They might be legit but I'm really tired of them all.  I turn my answering machine off most of the times now so my baby can sleep and I can quit wasting my time with this nonsense!  I just check my caller ID periodically in case I have an "actual" call that I have missed.

And I'm NOT marking this as a non-profit caller since it prob isn't deductible on federal taxes....

I apologize as they the wafop is actually listed as a charitable organization.  However, I'm still NOT interested in donating.

I'd be willing to bet that they are not actually the FOP, but a collection agency that solicits donations ON BEHALF OF the FOP.  I asked when they called me tonight and the gentleman admitted to a READ THIS-----> 30%, yes thirty percent administrative fee for soliciting donations.  Wow, sign me up to do this kind of telemarking, it's better than the stock market.  If you care to donate to a charity, donate DIRECTLY if able and cut out the money-grubbing middle man.  That way 100% of your hard-earned money goes DIRECTLY to the charitable cause!!!!

they called hung up as i answered I tryed to call it back but it says my call can't be completed as dialed not sure what it is

POS telemarketer wakes me at 8 AM. hangs up when i answer. wakes up my teething baby that i was up most of the night with. i call the number back just to be put on hold for the FOP. i ask for my number to be removed so i won't get anymore 8 AM wake up calls. then this idiot asked if i was carolyn somebody. i told him my name didn't matter and i wanted my number removed. these people don't even know who they are calling.

I do donate to my local FOP and Firemen in Tennessee and my city, who call me just once a year for about two weeks. It's usually a concert where the Tennessee artist has donated his/her time, or a reduced rate, and the people calling are actual firemen/women and policemen/women. I don't actually attend, I just buy the ticket and get the receipt - have the ticket donated to a worthy group that they have lined up. Usually kids. THAT I'll donate to, not some bogus hired out group from Washington State?? Give me a break. This website is great. Glad I don't answer. Calls about every 72 hours like clockwork.
