- tiredofthis| 1 replythey call my mom continuously. saying they are helig meyer who went out of business years ago. and she paid them off before they went under. now these people are wanting more money!!!
- Caller: helig meyer
- Call type: Debt collector
- jay replies to KLL| 1 replyKll the DNC registry does not immunize you against all calls nor does it block calls for anyone. If it is a collections company calling, they can legally call you. If it is a scammer, well, they can call anyone that they care to because they don't care.
- jay replies to Bite MeThe DNC doesn't block or immunize you against all calls. Go to the DNC site and read about what it covers and what it does not. Then if dissatisfied, you can choose to Opt out of the registry. Then you will be legally eligible to receive calls from the millions of legitimate businesses who are now NOT calling you because they are honoring the list and your request not to be called.
- dcso replies to tiredofthisThis is either a scam or else a buyers of old debts. Those calling your mom probably purchased a dump truck full of old debt files of which your mothers old file was among. They buy these old debts for a few cents each then jack up the amount hoping to scare someone into paying big dollars. They are probably calling to try to recollect on it since the business failed and the files may not show the debt paid. They know full well that the debt is Time barred under the statute of limitations but are hoping to collect from those who are not aware of their rights as well as what is or is not legally collectable. You have nothing to be concerned about on this.
If they call again, Start off by firmly stating that this debt is not owed and that you are disputing the alleged debt and have full intentions of seeking legal counsil for assistance should the need arise. Then ask for their Full company name, Regular business telephone number, Physical and mailing address, and the name of a person should you need to call. Then request (demand) full verifiable written validation of the alleged debt, showing the Account history, a record of payments, the date of the last and final payment or activity on the account, The balance amount as last held by the original owner of the debt (since this is obviously a collector) and a verifiable copy of any signed contract that may exist with your mom's signature as well as their legal right to claim and collect. DO NOT ACCEPT A FAX OR AN EMAIL!!! It must be in writing, via usps mail, and within 5 days of your request. You then have 30 days to dispute it and they are not allow to call you over the phone during that period.
Important: Deny that the debt is owed. Declare the debt paid in full. Do not accept or make any comment that may imply that any part of their claim is true or that you owe any portion of any debt. Deny everything except that the debt is paid. (you don't want to reset the clock on the statute of limitations)
Now, these people will not have any of this validation. They will claim that they don't have to provide it, that you already have it, or some other excuse. This is not true. The laws of the FDCPA (fair debt collections act) states that this information must be provided upon request. Tell them that you refuse to discuss this with them further until such validation is provided in writing in accordance with the FDCPA. That you know your rights and you will review their alleged claim and then send them a certified with signature requested letter "Disputing the alleged debt and their claim.) Check the Statute of Limitations on the type of loan in your state, and if it is out of SOL you can use this as a hammer in advising them that you intend to regard and defend as time barred under the SOL. (Again, make sure you deny the debt is owed)
Now!! Put on the boxing gloves and kick some ***. - AnonymSick of these calls they call more than 2xs a week and when i answer they dont say anything then they hang up:-\ Grrrrr stop it or im gonna report this number to the law.

- Tim EvansOn 09/20/13 at around 20:30,I got a call from this number at my home. Upon answering I asked the "lady" on the line what was the nature of her call., I did not recognize the ID of "Local Office" . She said she was trying to contact a person that does not live at my home. I told her that fact and also told her that I recognized her as a debt collector and that she was just a bottom feeding piece of sh*t. They just rub me the wrong way ( cant help it LOL)
Before any one feels sorry for her she had the choice of taking that job and calling me. I have no debts in arrears and should not be being called by any collection agencies. After an insult exchange the "lady informed me that she would so NOT be removing my number from their database and I could expect LOTS of calls from them. She then terminated the call. I just hit call return and called them back. I told the agent that answered "Susie" what happened and how the lady threatened me with LOTS of calls. I told Susie that if that was the game they wanted to play that I had all the time in the world to call them as well. I told her that I felt debt collectors are the scum of the earth and that is where the previous exchange started. I asked for the lady to be reported to the floor supervisor , for possible dismissal and Susie said she would alert the supervisor to listen to the call recording and that she would remove my number from their database.
This morning at just after 09:00 guess who calls..... 615-442-0191. Upon answering the call and being prepared for round two all I got was a dead silence after repeatedly saying hello for a couple of minutes. The call terminated and I said well here we go.... I called the number back and got the automated system . After holding for the next representative for over 30 minutes (call documented by the way) I hung up. That's OK I got all the time in the world. maybe some of you do too (hint, hint)- Caller: F&TB Inc.
