this number has called daily for the past week, never leaves a message but only hangs up after answering machine finishes announcement.

I just got a call from (618) 824-3216,from Campo Ca., there was a message, but it was only a short sound.

This number has called about once a week for a month now. Never leaves a message.

CID says...Campo,CA.  a different site has this number labeled SCAM in bold letters. We get many calls from what CID says is Campo,CA.  They mostly just disconnect or heavily accented, non-English speaking scammers.

I've gotten dozens of so-called "Campo" callers in the past. Of course, this is spoofed. But this Scammer must be successful. I picked up the phone and I guess if you don't say Hello, they hang up. So a human is on the other side, probably a Boiler Room. Blocked.

No, the autodialer is set to listen for a response.  If no response then it disconnects and starts calling other numbers.  That way they don't waste time have a human listening when there is nothing there.
