A man calls, ask if I am (first name, last name).  I say "yes", short pause, so I look at my phone and my own phone snaps a picture of me!  This really pissed me off.

I just got a phone call from a man with an Indian (India) accent.  He asked my name - it was hard to understand him because his accent is thick - and when I said "speaking," he said "Okay, thank you." and hung up.  I tried calling the number back and got an auto answer, this time with a woman's voice (also Indian) that says "If you know your party's number, please dial now."  I dialed "0" only to be put into a hold queue with an automated voice saying "The line is busy, please hold."  My guess is that these calls are an attempt to confirm phone numbers (mobile numbers in particular) for solicitation.  It is an illegal attempt to gather phone number details for solicitation purposes.  Per Spokeo, this number is connected to XO Communications.

Got a call from this number on my home phone from a man with an Indian accent.  The connection was very bad as I couldn't understand what he was saying.  I'm currently job searching so I thought he might be a recruiter and pulled my number off my resume.  I'm pretty sure that's where he got my number as he hung up and immediately he called my cell phone.  I answered and when I said hello he hung up.

Has called home and cell # and this name has a very thick accent possibly Indian.  Call was answered by wife and she asked who was calling.  He never really got a name or company but, she gave phone to me and when said speaking he hung up.  Believe may have my personal info and posing as a headhunter.

Same thing happened to me.  I think this is a recruiter just trying to meet his quota by calling as many people he can in a month.  Totally sucks btw.

Same happened to me like everyone else.

Here is the remedy. Go to http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and file complaint against this number. FCC takes this very seriously and can even get the man behind bars

    The BBB should disconnect 630-206-1818
I just received a call from 630-206-1818, I always answer this particular number with "Hello this is (my name)" - The caller with an indian accent said, "ok thank you, sorry for wasting your time"...definitely calling just to confirm my identity is associated with this particular phone number - scary to think my identity is in jeopardy right now as I type this, and I'm not even sure what to do...???

I recieved this call around 2:00pm EST from a guy with an Indian accent also, POSING to be employed by a corporate company AppleOne. He verified my name and current employer...scary...asked if i had outside sale exp and then hung up when i said no. I called AppleOne (legit recruiting company) and they said they have a downtown Chicago location, but the ph# for that location did not match this ph# and the solicited call was based out of West IL, where they do not have an office.

HERES HOW TO REPORT AND SHUT IT DOWN: FCC said they do not handle these complaints, although their rep sais it does sound like a scam, so you must call the FTC (Federal Trade) at 1877-382-4357 to report it AND your state attorney (FL is 866-966-7226). The rep said one agency will investigate, one will try to shut it down, and they will make it known to the public that it is a SCAM so people dont fall for it.
LETS REPORT THESE CALLS THE RIGHT WAY!!!!

What is it with these Indian or Pakistani telephone scams?  This is not the first and it appears it has had some longevity, with the 1st comment here posted exactly 1 year ago.  63660 (full displayed number) was much more annoying and a really strange story, but that's not what this string is about.

For anyone investigating this one, here's a clue.  I didn't answer this call, but I carry two cell phones.  As I am looking for works, both numbers (1 primary, 1 alternate) are listed on my resume posted on various job boards.  Was it a coincidence that first my primary cell phone rang with this number and very shortly thereafter, my alternate phone rang?  Don't think so.  Two things can reasonably be deduced: 1.) they're not doing this as a prank (there's a money angle somewhere) and 2.) they have a reason to verify phone numbers on resumes.  Recruiters can make some pretty good money, but spend enormous amounts of time on the phone.

My advice is to share as many facts here as possible.  Unfortunately, most will likely be reading this after the call, but if this connects with your experience, add some dots.
