- Garry| 24 repliesMy card is also being charged 24.95. Not sure how they got the info. I contacted my card Co. and they have credited my account. This goes on every month.
- C. ShepardCalled my office and asked for me by full name. I said, "she's not here right now, can I take a message?" and he abruptly hung up before I could finish my question. I did a couple of online searches and came up with National Registry in New York.
- J.H.| 2 repliesThe message I received was from the "Executive Director" of Kipling's Who's Who. Due to a heavy accent, I was unable to determine his name. The message stated only that they were interested in adding me to the publication and if interested, I should contact him directly at 631-243-0202, extension 118. I checked out the number online and found a poorly done Web site for their "Who's Who" registry... seems like a scam to me.
- Caller: Kipling's Who's Who
- DW replies to J.H.this guy seems fishy. Very curt and wanted a call back from my coworker. I did a telephone search and I don't get the warm and fuzzies with this guy
- NRI also received this message from Kipling's Who's Who asking me in a very frank manner to call back at extension 115. I did not and will not call back now, after finding this site...
- Caller: Claimed to be Kipling's Who's Who
- Call type: Unwanted
- Remodeling Masters in TXConstantly calls and we ignore them and we have reported them several times to the Do Not Call registry. They have also been caught by Capital One Credit Card from jumping from one credit card to the next and charging us a chat room fee that we have nothing to do with. Even after we cancel the card and reopen another account..still, and this is Capital One we are dealing with. These guys are snakes and know how to work the system. It's Madison's Who Who as well as this Nation Registry.
- Caller: Who's Who aka Madisons
- Call type: Telemarketer
- white replies to Garry| 18 repliesKilpings Who's who is charging my bank account 24.95 every month. I complained to Wachovia for it to stop, but it is still occurring. What can I do? How were they able to do this
- mlc replies to Garry| 1 replyyou should call kiplings and ask for a manager or ask someone there to help you.
- Deocio replies to GarryDONT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY....THEY ARE PHONY AND MISREPRESENT THEMSELVES....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ESPECIALLY IN AN ECONOMY LIKE THIS, SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR MORE IMPORTANT AND CREDIBLE THINGS.
- GEI got a call from some "Who's Who" company a few weeks ago. I didn't take down their name, but I told them I wasn't interested in their product. Now an item for $24.95 from "Kiplings Whos Who in Lea 631-2430202 NY" has appeared on my credit card bill. I don't know how they got my credit card number; I certainly didn't give it to them. The credit card company has said they will investigate the charge.
- Bill replies to mlcYou can't call Kipling's. It's an unattended phone#. The only thing I can figure as to how they got my card info is, that I made a donation to an animal shelter the same day that transaction first appeared. Does that sound familiar to anyone?
As of now, the only to stop these payments is to close your account or talk to your credit card company. This is a fraud.
I plan on reporting this outfit to whoever investigates these things. I'm thinking FBI?
Good Luck,
Bill - RDA charge of $24.95 appeared on my account from Kipling's Who's Who. I called them to find out why they are taking money out of my account. The girl named, Gina, would not give me any information unless I gave her my credit card number. She did state that my name is not on the account where the magazine is being shipped. Obviously this sounds like fraud to me. I called my bank and filed a fraud claim.
- Bill replies to white| 13 repliesI want to put an end to this scam. I called 613-243-0202 today. I actually talked to a guy and asked him if he had received similar calls regarding Kipling's. He said he had had several. I also called the toll-free number I found on another page at Kipling's site. It is no longer in service.
Just before I started getting billed from Kipling's, I mean just before, I made a donation to this site: http://www.bestfriends.org/ So, I'm thinking there is a connection there. I found it odd, in this age, that I made the donation on the 5th of Dec. and it wasn't on my statement along with the Kipling's until the 9th of Dec. I think it is either possible that, http://www.bestfriends.org/ is part of the scam, or that the security of their servers has been compromised and donor info was stolen. I wrote to Best Friends alerting them to this concern as well as my intention to contact the FBI in this matter. As yet, I have received no reply. Hmm... makes me wonder.
Anyhow, I'm turning off my Visa Check card tomorrow. The charges to Kipling's will be refunded. Because I believe that Best Friends is part of the scam, that charge will be returned as well.
Because I am an IT professional, I know how to find the location of Kipling's server. I suspect it is offshore.
I plan on contacting the proper legal authority and pursue action in this matter. If you have sustained a loss because of this scam, post the story here or write to me at formv83@aol.com. I'll make this stop.
I'll keep you updated,
Bill - Robert replies to Bill| 3 repliesI was scammed into purchasing the "Directory" from Kipling's Who's Who sometime back in 2007. I received a nice plaque that I would never hang on the wall anyway, but never did get the directory. when I inquired thaty kept saying "It's coming". I received numerous aggressive sales calls. I told them to stop calling to sell me anything until I receive what I paid for. That happened at least four times. Several months ago they started charging $24.95 to the credit card I used for that initial order - completely unauthorized! After numerous calls, they credited the monthly charges back, but more charges continued. They too were credited back upon my insistance. Again they charged my card in Dec. Today they said they will credit it back but were not authorized to refund by original purchase amount and passed me on to someone's voice mail. I faxed them my concerns today to document my correspondence and now make notes of every call I make in my attempt to get my money back.
- Garry| 2 repliesI just called 631-243-0202 and spopke to Al Gonzales, said they would credit my accout. We will see what happens. I will keep you posted.
- Bob replies to GarryI recived an email from Kiplings Whos Who in LEA after several phone calls and they were wanting me to renew my membership are wahtever they call it and was coming to charge mt credit card $24.95. I requested that they remove my name from all records that had and I would not authorize a charge to my credit card. I received my credit card statement and they had charged me $24.95. I have been unable to contact any body with this company and I guess I will have to have my credit card company with hold payment and to block any further transaction from this company.
- Pam replies to Garry| 1 replyWe also have had recurring charges of $24.95 on our crdit card and called the same number which said it had a full mail box. How did your situation turn out? Any advice?
- seth replies to whiteits happening to me to. What can we do> I called them, never signed up for this program and they keep sending me invoices and charging my card.
- seth replies to Robert| 2 repliesyour story is exactly the same as mine. I told them to stop contacting me and i keep getting this charges. Have you filed a complaint with the BBB? I noticed that they managed to sneak in a charge of 24.95 in July from my year-end statement. They told me that i needed to opt-out of this program that I never signed up for which i did but now the charges are coming again.
- Dr. Verta Midcalf, Ph.D. replies to BillI have had the displeasure of being scammed by Madison Who's Who and as recently as tonight am trying to find a way to get my money back. I am on line to find someway to get in touch and I find all these people saying they have been scammed by them. Can you please help me. Please email me to let me know what can be done. They recently took 237.00 from my bank account for a book. I actually talked to a live person and they said that I would not have to pay for membership after this year. They never said they would take the money for the book from my account. This is crazy... I need to find a way to get my money back from these people. My email address is: vertamidcalf@sbcglobal.net. Please help me. I am afraid that these people are going to take more money in the future. Verta
