- Bonnie from MassachusettsI honestly do not remember the details...it was sometime in the summer or early fall of 2008 (I think). I told them I was not interested. All of a sudden, I started getting charges of $24.95 each month! Same as everyone else...I don't know how they got my credit card number. I am going to contact my credit card company TODAY to see if they can somehow block these charges (I don't want to close the account because I have several other monthly charges that I have billed to it, along with my outstanding balance). I am also going to contact the BBB, the FTC, and the Mass. State Attorney General's office! I'll keep you all posted. By the way, they only called me once, and it was on my office phone (I work for a company with around 700 employees, so I'm not quite sure how they got my number.)

- Luveejoha replies to whiteYes, they got me too. I also made the mistake of "joining" about 4 years ago and declined to renew since that time. I again began receiving calls from them las t fall and repeatedly ststed that I am not interested. Despite, in December 2008, I saw $24.95 charged to my credit card. I called my credit card company and they told me another charge for the same amount was made in January. I cancelled my card and am reopening it with a new number since that's the only way to stop the charges. I hope someone puts a stop to this rip off group!
- VirginiaI am not going into a lot of detail but anyone that registered with Global Who's Who is now with Kipling's Who's Who they have taken it on themselves that if you signed up with Global they now have so many members that they have decided to set up a web site that you can update your info for a monthly fee of $24.95 fee and if you do not want to update then for $9.95 you can review your info. They put in a call from their office so they have a record of calling your telephone number, leave a message and this authorizes them to use your credit card. Who ever heard of such a thing! I am upset, it's wrong and it results in a lot of unneccessary phone calls and headaches. These people are getting rich off of this scam. I have tried for a week to get in touch with these people. Mailboxes are full sorry or no one answers! Something needs to be done. Credit card offices are bombarded with this unneccessary craziness.
- Delaine replies to BillMy blood pressure is rising today because of this Kipling Who's Who!! It looks like I'm not alone! Our business received the $24.95 charge on our account...I tried to call Kipling's and left messages but no return phone call. Our credit card took the charges off our card but they seem to keep recurring. When I saw Kipling's Who's Who on the caller ID today...I finally answered the call...BIG mistake!! The guy wants to send me the directory for $199. I told him we don't want it and to stop charging our credit card for $24.95. He said that was for the internet and he will remove those charges. He said for our trouble he will send us TWO directories...I told him I don't want them. He said because of our membership, we get a directory. This cycle kept on for about 10 minutes....then he said he'll send me 1 directory and lower the price to $99. Again, I told him we don't want the directory or the membership...he said my husband authorized it back in 2007 and that he would've signed the proof for the directory. I told him I want to see the proof with my husband's signature, he said that was impossible. I got his name and number and told him again not to send us anything!
- JSI also have had recurring charges of $24.95 on our credit card. When I called the same number which said it had a full mail box. Then I call my bank to dispute these charge and try to get refund back. In case to prevent future charge to my account again, I decided to close my credit card for this scam charge.

- wilma replies to BillBill,
We had a very similar experience with Kipling's. Unfortnately, they got us for $74.85 (3 charges). I disputed the first 2 with Discover, they removed the charges pending investigation. However, they received a letter from Christie Morgan stating that my husband gave information to be published in their book and was aware of the charges. The information they were refering to was five years old and yes, he did authorized the charges back then and was reimbused by his employer. why the charges started up again is a mystery. I ended up cancelling my Discover card last night. they apparently make more from Kipling's than a long time customer since '86. Sad!!! - AnnI received a fax from them today, the faxnumber it came from is 877-700-4884 and the phone number on the cover sheet is 631-243-0202 and 866-472-4549. I thought the whole thing was fishy and I was right.
How come the FBI hasn`t shut them down yet??? - gilReceived a call today march 25-09. Began selling me multiple benefits for $695.00, and finally ended with inclusion only in the directory for $135.
She wanted my credit car4d over the phone,so I said to fax me the bill I would pay after researching. Fortunately I found these pages and will not be scamed.- Caller: Kipling's who's who
- Stephano replies to whiteThis company is a total scam! I've never bought anything from them ever, and they charge my American Express $24.95 every month; and every month I contact American Express and dispute their charge. Each month Kiplings lies to AmEx and tells them I was interviewed by phone and a write up on my company appears on their web site and in their Who's Who directory, and they are due the $24.95 per the subscription agreement.
They never called me or interviewed me.
I have no company.
I never subscribed to anything from Kiplings.
I'd never even heard of this company prior to seeing their name on my monthly American Express statements.
I have no idea how they even got my American Express card number.
Avoid this company at all costs!
They are lying, cheating scam artists! - SGI thank you all for this information. I just received a call from them and was a little interested. I don't walk with my credit card or check book so I was not able to give them my information. I do not walk with these items because I don't like to be pressured into making a decision right away. Today a man(Manager) called me and asked me a few questions. He offered me the $904.45 package. I told him I would call him back tomorrow. I tried to look up information about this company on the BBB website but I did not find any complaints. Again, I thank all of you for this information. SG

- DD| 1 replyI recieved a call from someone who identified himself as Richie Strauss of Kiplings who's who. He congratulated me for being included in the directory and proceeded to confirm our not for profit organization's contact information.
He asked me for my correct title, what my job entailed, what set me apart from others in my field and where I saw myself in 5 years.
He then started the sales pitch and tried to get credit card info or a checking number.
When I stated that this would have to be presented to my board and asked for printed materials to be sent to me he stated there is none. As he saw I wasn't going along with the prices he was giving me for membership he offered me a certificate for $99. He said if my board won't do it I should put it on my personal credit card which I said I don't have. He said I should give my checking account info which I stated I wouldn't do over a phone and he offered to have fed-ex come pick up a check tomorrow.
In hind site I should have had them send fed-ex and not answered the door.
I asked for the web site address which he had to find and when I asked for the corporate headquarters address, he stated 735 Commack Rd, Commack NY... which is not what is even on the web-site. The phone number given was 631-243-0202 ext 113
Obviously a credible business would know there address and website and they would also have information to send potential members.
I would not give information and did a web search while I was on the phone with this person so I was aware it was probably a scam.
If it makes anyone out there feel any better... I annoyed the hell out of this guy with all my questions and he hung up frustrated and very aggitated.- Caller: Kipling's who's who
- SB replies to DDI got a fax from Kiplings who's who today requesting info to include me in their directory. I was not taken by that so I requested one of my colleagues to call the number to verify it. She was convinced but I still felt it was a scam so I searched on the internet and was glad to find this website and I tore up the fax. I will have to check my credit card statement to make sure that they are not charging me. Thanks.

- GeorgeI fell into their trap about 4 years ago. They convenced me I was special enough to be included in their book. I signed up and they have been like gum on my shoe ever since. I can't shake them off. Last year out of the blue they started billing my american express for $24.95 every month. I've been disputing the bill every month and it's getting old. they just won't let go. We really should all get together and start a class action lawsuit.I've tried to call the phone number that comes up on my bill and it sounds like a fax but I'm going to try the one that all of you have given. Good luck to all of you.

- grus42I received a call today a guy who identified himself as "Steve Baron, the CFO at Kiplings Global Registry." He told me to call him back at the 631-243-0202 number and mentioned x 115.
I have not called him back and do not plan to. Instead, I am going to start researching my credit card charges and see if they have popped me for anything. When somebody else called, they said they gave me the last four digits of a card they claimed to have on file. That card has not been active in years.- Caller: Kiplings Global Registry
- LCThe stories sound the same as mine. Got a call from Kipling's Who's Who years ago and provided them with information pertaining to my position. Later during a different call, they attempted to sell me a directory and/or plaque which I declined. Recently charges of $24.95 for an online service from Kipling's have been showing up on my credit card. I, too, never authorized or signed up for such a service. I have repeated left messages for a Steve Baron at 631-243-0202 ext. 115 and actually have upon occassion been able to speak with him regarding these charges. The story is always the same - he asks me to call back at a specific time and if I am lucky enough to actually talk with him, he then makes up an excuse to have me call back at a later time when he can address the matter with his "floor manager". I had already disputed the charges with my credit card company and will probably report this as a fraud and get issued a new card. My advice is to not get involved with these scammers in the first place. Those of us who have had the misfortune of dealing with these frauds could also collectively bombard them with phone calls and messages on a constant basis so that they get a taste of their own medicine. It's worth a shot. Good luck to everyone.

- AnonymYes, this is a scam, a variation on the puff sheet racket. They use the name Kipling in hopes that you will confuse them with Kiplinger... the true, legit Who's Who in the US is Marquis' Who's Who.
- AMF004this is awful, they have been calling and pestering us 631-243-0202x108,very agressive!!!!

- Mike replies to PamI finally solved my problem with Kipling's and American Express. The $24.95 was being charged periodically on a corporate card that was cancelled in 2006. I was getting no where with disputing the charges with American Express since the card was already cancelled but charges were still going through. This time I said "Fraud" and like magic, the charges stopped (hopefully, for good).
- LCUPDATED INFORMATION: I received a letter from American Express indicating that Kipling's was going to credit my account for the fraudulent charges that had been posted. Coincidentally, prior to receiving the letter from AMEX, I had filed a complaint online with the Better Business Bureau because I had had enough of either leaving messages or talking to a Steve Baron at ext 115 and getting nowhere. I suggest that everyone file a complaint with the New York BBB at www.newyork.bbb.org and put the pressure on Kipling's. The address I had for Kipling's follows:
Kipling's Who's Who In Leading Business Professionals
