- William replies to SomewhereovertherainbowExplain what you mean by "fake medicare number" as the Social Security Number is the Medicare Number, and many scammers already have peoples' SSN.
The only real "fake Medicare Numbers" are the SSNs of people who are deceased, as those are canceled and cannot be used to get government services. - BostonHolly replies to RONNYThanks, Ronny- so, armed w/that updated info. , my call blocker gives me the option of blocking a "series of numbers" or specific"area codes", I'm entering the 646 area code , I've never received 1 legit call from it yet. GTK !
- BostonHolly replies to PissedNot if they govt. supplies the company with your number; not if it's spoofed from oversees; not if it's an illegal business , an untracable caller . this caller could 1, 2 or all 3 . We're all pissed - and feel your pain !
- fnord replies to BostonHollyLevel 3 sells access to VoIP lines, to make internet-based phone calls.
- BH replies to Dee Brownly| 1 replyHi Dee, wow, that's interesting, what type of blocker are you using and do you make/receive calls using a landline or cellphone ? I'm on a landline & my blocking equip. is built into my phone. I can block one call at a time which is easy. OR I can block a series of numbers or an entire set of numerous area codes. It's a hassel to use but worth it when I have the patience to use it that way. . However, just when it gets quiet ....the spoofers find a new billion workarounds. I'd love to know what you're using, anyway. BostonHolly
- BH replies to BHoh yeah, PS when there is no company or personal name, just a town and a state listed it's 99.9% guaranteed to be a spoofed call, i.e. place out of the USA from a foreign country
- BostonHolly| 1 replyMy hands are tired from typing ....had upper neck surgery on Friday, still groggy and stiff ...anyway, same [***], different day.
- Caller: spoofed thru New York NY
- Call type: Prank
- BigA replies to SomewhereovertherainbowWow your cheap Chinese tinfoil is failing big time. If you make several thousand calls do you think that somewhere in there the people that answer will be on Medicare? Keep in mind no that there are millions of people in this country retired or disabled and on Medicare. Now where does it say that they had a number previously? Did you read every post in here and find one? Also what about places that have been hacked such as banks, credit bureaus, and hospitals? Do you think they might have gotten information from those? Making up an SS# is a very bad idea since it might actually belong to someone. You really should think about stuff before you post, or at least go back on your meds.
- Mike-in-MD replies to SomewhereovertherainbowI am not yet on Medicare and have received these scam calls for years. It is not direct targeting, just a shotgun approach because if even 1 in 1000 calls nets a mark, they make money and defraud Medicare or other insurance companies.
- Slim replies to Somewhereovertherainbow
Oh no, not another unsupported and unfounded trollish rant by an unknown, low-information poster who believes their own, unsubstantiated opinion outweighs the facts, and who hopes to convince other immature minds to think so far "outside the box" that their brain exists in some alternate reality.
On the other hand, perhaps you need professional assistance. Ask one of your keepers if your care plan allows that. - Tamianth replies to BostonHollyGet well soon Holly!
- BigA replies to BHYou need to read Slim's post on the second page because it applies to you as well.
- Tamianth replies to BHThats funny, never had a problem with them, but then again, your Dr's are supposed to make sure its ok'd and approved. And they tell you straight out what is and what isn't covered. Good clinics also have alternatives and monetary help as well.
