He tried it with me. I sent him back a nasty text message, and he stopped texting me. Anything that does not feel right, probably isn't. Report him to PayPal!!

Sent me a text message stating that he could not talk because of the area, bad cell use. asked to come pick up the merchandise and would send a carrier. No thanks. Do not fall for this.

Yeah, same guy hit us up about a trailer we have on CR. Having been through this with other scammers (wonder if it's the same guy? hmmm) we recognised the scam. Now we're just f*cking with him lolol. Can anyone think of something funny?

Did the same to me yesterday (June 10th, 2013). Claiming he works in rural area for Turner Construction and couldn't be contacted as there was limited service, but could receive texts on a (501) area code phone. Wanted my address - never gave it to him. Wanted to purchase bedroom set as a SURPRISE for someone dear to him.and to send over Movers to get it. Would pay through paypal .Thought it could be a scam and looked up onl;ine to find these similar complaints

He tried me today.  I've reported him to the FBI.  And I'm just getting warmed up.

YES!  I GOT THE EXACT SAME EMAIL.  This guy has led me on for an entire day, telling me he was going to purchase a large living room/dining room set.  I had other people that wanted to buy it and this guy assured me that he was about to pay via PayPal, so I sent him a payment request.  When he emailed me again and said he would pay in the morning, I got suspicious and looked him up.  He has only my first name, cell phone number, address (needed to pick up the furniture), and the PayPal request.  PayPal's Fraud Department said that he can't do anything to me via PayPal and not to worry; however, he could do something in person and to contact my local authorities and file a report and report him to www.ic3.gov  This is a site that helps track down people like this.  What kind of a piece of **** has the time and character to do this kind of crap.  What a coward, too.  Come do this crap to my face...

Got the same email today...same story, same name, different number. (501-438-9373). I sent him the following response:

Can I just say it is so sad that people less intelligent than I am might fall for such a half-hearted attempt at a scam. Get a better tactic. Or better yet--perhaps you should apply your effort elsewhere. Imagine if you put as much effort into something productive as you do into trying to scam people. You could even possibly be successful, instead of the what you are---the epitome of a failure.

P.s. You're ALL OVER Google. When you type 'Rick Sm' into google, 'Rick Smith Turner Construction' automatically pops up. Followed by MULTIPLE pages with all the different phone numbers you've used. You've been reported to the FBI...Turner Construction has a lawsuit against you....and you're violating the laws of multiple countries. Goodluck in prison.

What a loser!

I got exactly the same email today. Sounded ridiculously suspect and one google search turned up this page. As of August 2013 he is still at it. Do not give him any information.

I can't believe this! I got the exact same message just now "it's a surprise for someone dear to my heart", have mover to pickup, paypal payment, etc...So glad I saw these posts before responding back to his lengthy questions! Shame on u "Rick Smith"! I hope u get caught for these SCAMs u r trying to pull!

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to alert others. I encountered this jerk when he replied to my CL posting for lawn furniture, but his first email was brief:

"My name is Rick,I will appreciate it if you to get back to me with your bottom price at my email address mbjhaga at gmail dot com (substitute symbols for AT and DOT words)."

After I replied (stupidly?) to the (Nigerian-sounding) name at gmail.com, he sent me the same "I work for Turner Construction" email that others have received--the one about how he was in a rural area, would pay with PayPal and could be contacted at (501) 438-9373. It felt like a scam, so I didn't reply, and now this website confirms that he's a pro. However, I wonder if he already got what he was looking for when I replied to his first message--i.e., my e-mail address. Who knows? Maybe he sells them to online marketers?

I had the exact same email regarding a sofa we are selling on CL here in Portland. Something didn't feel right so I googled and here I am. I called him on it. And reported him to Paypal and Turner Construction
