First he sent me a message from 402-870-4724 asking me to text him at his personal line - 407-307-2251.  Once I sent a message at this number, he sent me the exactly the same story of working with Turner Construction in a rural area and can't talk, payment via PayPal, etc.

I'm glad I looked up Rick Smith before I sent him any other information.

he's back at it, new number 1-407-307-2251 &1-754-202-1443  I caught on quite quick and then decided to lead him on an adventure, lol it was fun on my end

I added a report this morning for Rick Smith. His new number is 3212703630 and email address he was using was p.poner12301@gmail.com

I got the exact same messages.  407-848-2849 was the number, same email p.poner12301@gmail.com

same guy tried to scam me today! Now at this number (916) 572-3769, same idiotic message... Why can this guy not be stopped?! He's had the same email address for at least 5 years doing this to people. It's quite amazing...

407-848-2849 i just got a text regarding my listing and he said to email him because he responds faster that way. i will block him.

He's still at it.   Same text response as above and pay pal and having someone come pick it up.   I thought there was something fishy about this...sure enough I was right.   He has also changed his number again...512-994-1101.

So I got the same message but from the number 512.649.7726. He didn't request a better email but he did get my paypal email address and the front building address of my apartment building, luckily it is a large complex and my actual apartment is not anywhere near the front office. What security risks should I be concerned about since he has my paypal email? Thank you!

It may be a scam.

Scammers use Craigslist and other online buy/sell sites to troll for victims.
Sometimes they request to do the transaction through PayPal or other online money transfer services and some use fake or stolen checks.
Bottom line, they have no interest in getting the item you are selling, only in tricking you into sending them money.

Look for the signs of a scam in the examples below:

Here is how the "PayPal Scam", or any other online money service money-laundering scam, works:
They say they will buy your item, unseen.
They say they will pay you extra money to cover the shipping charges through their shipping company or agent or to cover any fees.
They request your email address linked to your PayPal account.
They instruct you to wire the extra funds they send you to their shipping company or agent or person who collects the fees.
You receive a invoice from PayPal to your email, stating the funds have been deposited to your PayPal account.
So, you use your money to wire the funds to the shipper.
You then find out the PayPal email was fake, it was sent by the scammer, there were no funds deposited into your PayPal account. that is the reason the scammer asked for your PayPal email address, so they could send the fake invoice.
The money you wired, was really picked up by the scammer, it is unrecoverable.
You are out the money you wired.
A variation on this is were they will use stolen credit cards to send the PayPal money. Once PayPal learns the cards are stolen, they reverse all funds, leaving you out the money you wired off.

Here is how the Cashiers Check, Money Order, or Bank Daft scam works:
As above, they want to pay you extra to cover shipping or fees.
In these cases, the check you receive, for funds over the amount of your item, is forged, stolen, or counterfeit.
As above, you are instructed to wire the extra funds to another party.
As it may take several weeks for the banks to realize the check is bad, you may not know you have been scammed for some time.
Worst yet, as you passed a bad check, you can be held criminally liable.
You are out the funds you wired, return check charges, and face possible arrest.

We just listed a pool table on Craigslist and within a few minutes he was already sending us messages. I was leery and checked a little further and discovered this link....no sale from us!!

I just got this same email from a Rick Smith also..wanting to purchase an item from me for $1000.00..
The number I got was 316-202-2587..someone needs to do something about this..He told me he would pay me first through paypal..how does that work..because he wants my paypal account so he can pay me..but, what I don't understand is, he can't call me because he is out in rural area, but he can email me?? He works at Turner Construction also..??..same thing word for word was emailed to me??..he wasted most of my morning,,until I texted my husband and had him do a search..and he  found all you people..

Just got the same message.  This guy is Nuts.

He's still at it same message entirely but a different name now. John Walter lol.. I am not new to this ordeal as I craigslist a lot. Just thought I'd inform the public he hasn't given up yet. Smh what a no life pos..!!
