I reported this as an IRS Impersonation Scam

scam, don't call them, said i could go to jail if I don't call, right, I wish they would go to jail because they called me

Got a call " This is officer Judy Smith of the US dept of treasury.  The nature and the purpose of this call is to inform you that we have received a legal petition notice concerning a tax against you still before the matter goes to the Federal claims court house or before you get arrested. Please call immediately on our hotline division number that is 646-517-4770. Make sure you call us as soon as possible. CRRRRaaaaaappppp!!!

Call from the 646number. I was told I was involved in a legal matter and I could go to jail if I didn't call them right away. I was not given any details as this was on my voice mail, I did return the call but no one was available. I thought this was a scam but I was curious to hear their explanation. Can't these scams be stopped?

I received the same recorded message on my answering machine. There is a legal petition concerning tax,etc.  I needed to call them immediately at 646-517-4770.  I have received these scam calls before pretending to be calling on behalf of the IRS.  The IRS will never call you on the phone according to my CPA.  They send letters!  I immediately knew this was another scam.

Tax scam called us 3/17/16.

Recorded message.  Said I owe Gov't back taxes.  I hung up.

Robo call sound...message was: "Department of United treasury. This call is official final notice from United State treasury. Male from this number left a message on my machine to call immediately regarding a tax issue, or we could go to jail.  I called the number from a different phone, male said he was from the IRS, obvious phony, foreign accent, told him what I thought of them, he got very vulgar at this point.

Same as the rest of the calls!

Female recording in my voice mail  stating she was "Officer GB Smith of the United State Treasury" (I don't know what United State she lives in, but I live in the United States of America).  I was supposed to call them back immediately or may be arrested.  "Who are you going to arrest, idiot?" For all you know you're calling a Pizza delivery service.
The phone companies have no incentive to do anything about these scam callers because they get paid by the scammers--and their legitimate customers pay them to block the scammers calls.  We need to have our representatives take action, the phone companies who have the technology to stop  them, but they have a great thing going.

i knew this was a scam when i heard the message and saw the # was from NY. called back anyway and could tell it was a call center from the background noise. the guy with an Indian\Hindu accent called me an a*hole and wanted my name and phone number. i told him i was Greg Surh (the SFPD chief of police), and gave him the number to the SFPD fraud dept. he then hung up.

Just got the same automated voice call about Tax Fraud case and to call their number.

I'm being investigated for tax fraud etc call the number immediately. I did not call back

Got a call saying I was going to jail if I didn't pay back taxes. So send future correspondence to me c/o the Federal Penn.

Received the same call just now and threatened that I would go to jail if I didn't call back the " Officer"

Received a recording stating that I was going to jail for 7 months because I had a warrant out for my arrest. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky to see the red flags and was scammed $400. Hard lesson to learn. It was also a imposter claiming to be with the IRS. I told him that I wanted to talk to my lawyer and He said that a lawyer wouldn't help me. He said he would call me back to make payment arrangements and has not stopped calling. I reported him to the Tax commission and The Dept. Of Treasury.

Scam recorded message that claims a tax case is in Federal Court and asks for return call before "you get arrested".
It's very sad that there are people who are susceptible to this kind of fraud - perhaps elderly or extremely gullible.

Got this robo call today stating there's a lawsuit filed against "you" by the US Treasury. Really? LMAO!
