- Kat* replies to WhattajokePlus a legitimate debt collector knows they would have to take you to court to have your wages garnished; they can't just do it because they want to.
- L Cuda| 1 replyThe following voice mail was left “Due to failure to pay your past due charge of debt collection account we don't have the legal right to probably wage garnishment under your name and Social Security number if you wanna resolve this matter without any further action contact the office directly at area code 650-645-9664 thank you…” As a proofreader, I think they mean to say they DO have the right to garnish wages. But since this is a scam, I’m not going to correct them.
As a side note, there has been a huge increase in the number of scam calls in the last 2 weeks. Not just this this type but more of the type where the callers say “Document a call __ record we have a schedule preliminary hearing sent to take place we do need to hear from yourself or your attorney today and immediately in the office 757-901-1008 thank you to communicate it's not recommended __ contact the office…” or “Just calling to schedule service of process for the preliminary hearing start to take place I do need to hear from you or your attorney in reference to the motion my number is 414-279-7020…” Now do these last 2 messages sound legit? “Just calling?”- Caller: (339) 210-4014

- Tygerkat replies to L CudaNope, they definitely don't sound legit since real process servers don't call in advance.

- LarissaThese idiots called and left a message about a payday loan from Cash America and they would garnish my wages. I told them they need to validate the debt in writing. They said they don’t do that and then they said the debt was from 9 years ago. I laughed and told them all that was paid off long ago and when they have a court order issued I would then sue them for harassment. She hung up! Stupid people! They prey on people

- Shawn R| 1 replyGot a call this morning at 10AM stating they were going to garnish my wages and report me to social security. LOL OK! Good luck with that! I don't have any wages to garnish, and you can't do that unless you take me to court AND WIN! And seeing how they are scammers I highly doubt they are going to take anyone to court, they would be thrown in jail so fast!

- rcna89 replies to MikeHuntletonThat is the same thing I got a couple times already. Voicemail format. Never called back and don't plan to.
- Marie replies to MikeHuntletonYes that's the exact message I got today on my voice mail. Thank you so much for sharing your info because now after reading yours and all the others complaints regarding this same matter I now know that it's definitely a Scam!

- Blake 7 replies to BigAI just got this today. Will file complaints against these sleazeballs. Also would be nice if the telcos would start disconnecting their phones.
- Melanie| 2 repliesJust missed a call from this number and let it go to voicemail; almost thought it was legit because it came up as "Account Services United States" on my caller ID. Listened to the voicemail, sounded like a regular dude. Looked up the ph# left in the voicemail that was WAY different than the caller ID.
Folks, if you know anyone who may be vulnerable to these types of scams, let them know that if any legal action of any kind is going to be taken against you for bad debt, you will (more likely than not [based on personal experience]) receive a letter in the mail. Also, if the voice messages don't state that they are a debt collector, and/or if they don't leave the "this is an attempt to collect a debt, any information obtained will be used for this purpose" mini miranda in their message, it's a scam.
Sorry for the long explanation lol I've worked in collections before and have sadly been a victim of ID theft myself. If I can help protect people in any way from this scammers I will!- Caller: No Name Call

- BigA replies to MelanieIt would have been impossible for your caller ID to have more then 15 letters/spaces so it could not have possibly read that. I have to wonder if you are even in the right number thread?
- Tygerkat replies to MelanieYou completely failed to tell us what the voicemail said but based on "the long explanation" I'm guessing it was from a debt collector.
- South CarolinaMultiple voice mails claiming they can garnish wages. Call back number is 650-645-9664 but originating number keeps changing from multiple other areas.
