My neighbor rcvd a p/cll from this number, caller ID said A A & A, an employee named "Vance" was talking to my neighbor about a past due medical bill. My neighbor is hard of hearing and has the volume on his phone set high, I could clearly hear the conversation 6 feet away. My neighbor disbuted the bill 3 times & "V" told him they were already taking $200 a week from his checking account, clearly a lie as it would require judicial action (Judgment) and legal service would have been done prior. If this was true a collection agency wouldn't be needed. When I told my neighbor to tell "Vance" to tell him he was disputing the claim, "V" told him "I should shut up & I didn't know what I was talking about". I will now be assisting my neighbor in finding a good lawyer, how to contact the MN AG's office and how to help "V" to look for a new job for violating state & federal laws. How would I know this, been in government collections for almost 20 years.

Just received my first call ever from a collection agency. It was a call from "Vance" from the following number:  (651) 287-6133  He refused to say what he wanted but wanted to speak with my seriously ill wife (still recovering from brain surgery in Dec 2011).  I hung up on him.  I did some sleuthing online to determine who this was.

    •    “Vance” is from American Accounts (AA and A) located here:  https://maps.google.com/maps?q=7460+80th+St+S ... sota+55016&z=20    You can see their cars parked out front and back.
    •    The company website is here: http://www.amaccts.com/  The management staff is listed on the site.
    •    This person is likely trying collect for some overdue medical bill. In our case, our medical insurance (United Healthcare) is not paying the bills in a timely manner even though we've met 100% of the deductible.  I have already paid my portion.
    •    BBB gives them an A+ rating.  I have trouble believing they have such a high rating after reading the complaints:  http://www.bbb.org/minnesota/business-reviews ... 0582/complaints  I'm beginning to doubt the effectiveness of the BBB.
    •    It appears that American Accounts knows really well how to walk that fine line to keep their rating while performing less than legal collection practices.
    •    I would be surprised if a Vance actually worked there ... probably their code name for a make debt collector.  Try asking this caller for their office manager: Dick

This number calls repeatedly and at inappropriate hours, the earliest call i received was at 5:30am which i thought was illegal and after reading these reviews i see that this Vance man is not just harrassing me.. i was sent a letter in the mail from them for what i supposedly owe and its an old account thats been paid off but had been in collections for awhile... i believe this company is a fruad and they search for old accounts just to try and get money because it scares people when they use real debts even if these debts have been paid in full.

    Anon.
Just got a call on my cell from the same number; 651-287-6133. I didn't answer and he/she/they/it did not leave a message. I seem to have been getting a lot of inexplicable calls since using my cellphone (which I only use when out) number for things related to the new vehicle I bought in June. To my knowledge, we have no outstanding debts, either.

Thanks to everyone for the heads-up. I may answer it next time. I think it could be fun.

Dont you people have anything better to do. If you had any morals at all, you would pay your bill, and not have to worry about being called by bill collectors. This guy really helped me out.

Another shill with zero reading comprehension!  Per the FDCPA, debt collectors bear the burden of proving that the alleged debtor actually owes the money to them - in writing!  You don't like it?  Too bad, so sad!

Oh, and people who don't owe money often get called by scammers like this outfit.  I guess you really must like working for them!

Don't you shills have anything better do? Maybe you can go write a book, it would be much more honest way of making a living besides trying to scam and fraud people!

Hey troll, if you had any morals you wouldn't be here in this thread running your mouth and trying to intimidate consumers, especially those posters who did not indicate they even owed a bill.

But then again, if you indicated he helped you out you must be some deadbeat professional debtor type, and in that case where do you get off lecturing anyone about morals. PAY YOUR BILLS TROLL!

BBB worthless replies to Angry husband

As long as they reply to a complaint at the BBB they do nothing to the businesses score. Even if they have 30 or more disgruntled/ unhappy/ripped off clients. The BBB has went to the dogs in the last 20 years. I turned in a company that stole money out of my checking account and sense they "satisfied" the complaint I left, that's all the BBB cared about. Never got my money back. I bought one bottle of fuel additive and the company said I had entered into a contract with them(which was a lie) and I had to buy another 11 bottles to complete the case at the tune of over a thousand dollars. I am not the only one this has happened to. New type of scam. As long as they get a card number-then the games begin.

This isn't a discussion as to whether or not we should "Pay our bills"--

This is about consumers' rights when it comes to the collection of debts.

    Thanks for playing.
