- Kathleen Holcomb| 3 repliesA very pushy young lady called and said she is with "Financial Recovery And Collection Services". She said that I owed $381.00 for diagnostic work from 2018 that was never paid. When I asked what provider or location, she said she couldn't give me that info due to HIPPA laws. This is a total scam. I have medical insurance and do not have any outstanding medical bills. We also refinanced our home in 2019 and no outstanding medical bills appeared on the credit check.

- Gary Ponzo| 4 repliesI just got off the phone from 659 300 2033 phone call saying I owe $418 from blood work with Us diagnostic Laboratories in 2018 by pushy young lady that claimed if I didn’t pay the bill today that they would send it as public records on my credit report as a collection, so I called back the number and asked to talk to her supervisor telling him that I’ve never seen any statement or any other phone call regarding this matter and I would refuse to pay any money unless I see an invoice from the creditor and have full information on the company he works for. He then told me he works for first point again I told him I need to verify the company and who I will be making payment to and assured him I will proceed to verify all claims before payment will be made I asked him to call back for the next day to give me time to verify from what I see online this is a major scam.

- BigA replies to Gary PonzoI have a Firstpoint Collection Resources out of North Carolina. Could be them.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- Brianna replies to Gary Ponzo| 1 replyThe exact same thing happened to me today! Exactly the same amount of money for blood work and wouldn't provide me with proof! He guy was rude and combative. It's a scam. Thank you for sharing.
- Sandra replies to BriannaJust happened to me today. Same store wanted money for blood work in 2018. Never had blood work done at that time. Told me if wasn't paid today my credit would be ruined. Total scam. Will be reporting them.
- PhilThey called me as well. They said I owed 418.00 for blood work in 2018 from US Diagnostic Labs. Being the nice guys they were they were willing to accept 321.00 if I paid now. I called US Diagnostic and they told me right away these guys are scammers that started doing this when Covid hit. If you don't think you owe someone something you probably don't.

- KFay replies to Kathleen HolcombI just got a call from the same people saying I owed $453 for diagnostics done 3 years ago! I've never not paid a medical bill and have insurance. Gotta be a scam.
- Chandler KhouryThis is the second time I have gotten a call from these people. The first guy hung up on me when I started asking questions. The second lady was pushy and EXTREMELY rude to me, when I asked for proof of what I owe, because I refused to just pay over the phone. She said I was wasting HER time and that she wasn’t going to allow me to waste a supervisors time. I was shocked at how she spoke to me when all I asked for was proof of a bill. THIS HAS TO BE A SCAM.

- BobSame story as the other complaints. Katie and her supervisor William also gave me a call back (334) 867-6404 and believe US Diagnostic Labs only manufacturers medical testing equipment.

- Janice WrightThey said I owe a $400. Lab bill for blood work January of 2018. I asked for proof. She told me it would be Hipparchus violation. I told her to see me a statement. She said we are past the point of statements. She then said she was disconnecting the call and hung up.

- DonotcallerSCAM ALERT! Totally a scam. Do not set up any payment plan with them. IF you think there is a problem, go directly to the people you may or may not owe. “Name Unavailable” as caller ID is a scam clue. Not being able to tell you the problem claiming HIPPARCHUS is a scam clue.

- JulieI just got a call from a woman for a lab bill from July 2019. She could not tell me the doctor that ordered the blood work, claiming HIPPA. I told them if they did in fact send requests in 2020. I had nothing to do but check the mail during the Covid lockdown. They had my former address and street. I have already called two doctors to see if I even went in around the dates this alleged bloodwork was run. I didn't go in during this time frame... years ago.

- KWThis is absolutely a scam. They will not provide information on the charge, mailing information, or identifying creditor/debt collector information. The woman also had a screaming child in the background while telling me an amount of debt that matches the other complaints in this thread. After calling back, they were unable to give me the name of the creditor, the name of the “agent” with my file, or the the agents identifying information, and have been sending notices about care I received in 2019 to an address in California I haven’t lived at since 2017. There is no website, and both agents hung up on me after stating my rights and demands for a letter of notice stating the debt. Just breeze pass this one, they are demanding $300-$418 to scare you.

- JSI got this call today. The pushy woman said I owed $475.11 for labs taken on 3/14/19 with US Diagnostics. The strange thing is that I did have labs at the time in the window they suggest, which makes me think they have access to old diagnostics calendars or something. I did a search for US Diagnostics and got Quest. I contacted Quest Diagnostics and they don't have any record of this bill. Reading these reports, I realize it was a very clever scam. It must be working because it's now 2/2022 and these comments go back 5 months.

- ABI received the same call today! When I called Quest Diagnostics (the last place where I had labwork done), they told me they can verify if I have any outstanding balances. The man that called said that the lab already turned it over to them, and it is now out of the lab's hands. So, patient records don't exist then?
