Received the following text message yesterday from 661-748-3295:

"Hello,Good Day..My name is Chris Blair,I want tutor lesson  for my Daughter for a month she is 12 years old, I want you to calculate the cost of 2 hours per day for 3 days in a week for the whole  Month and Text me the total cost...Thanks"

It must be the classic overpayment scam using Western Union.

Received the same message.  I sent back a message saying I had reported his attempt at fraud to the FBI and to the California State Attorney General's office.  He replied back, "Really?  Clap for yourself.".  His brazenness has caused me to follow through with what before was just hyperbole.  I hope they catch him!

By the way, this person is getting numbers form craigslist.com.

Sam thing happened to me.  He said that he is going on a business trip to Canada and asked for my address so he could send payment through UPS or FedEx.  I thought it seemed strange so I asked to meet him and his daughter and he just kept repeating that she needed tutoring and he wanted her to start ASAP and kept asking for my address.  I reported him as well.

Same thing happened to us, we had posted an ad on Craigslist for lessons, his first few texts read EXACTLY the same... daughter is 12, trip to Canada, 2 hours per day 3 days per week for a month, etc.  When asked direct questions about the lessons, he would never answer them.  Definitely a SCAM.  Will report as well.

This scammer is just trying to send you a check for a huge amount (around 2000) and will want you to cash it in your account and then send their nanny. When the check is cashed you will get the money until the fake check bounces. You will then be stuck with paying back the amount to the bank. This is a huge thing that has been going on for years. I got the check just so I could take it to the police for finger prints and evidence. DON'T CASH THE CHECK.

Received the same message from him today in response of my Craigslist ad for my tutoring services. I would not be astonished if this is the same person that keep sending my the same/similar emails. People like him should be locked up.

Received the same message.  I had a bad feeling about this supposed business man's incorrect use of English and apparent urgency.  Once he asked for my address, I knew it was a scam for sure.  I, too, am a tutor who posted on Craigslist.  I will be reporting this to the AG.  Thank you for your posts.

Received the same message. I am a local tutor who posted ads on Craigslist. Something didn't feel right and I thought I should Google his name along with "tutoring scam", which led me here.

I'm glad I did! Bummer... but still glad!

    Stupid fools!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me.  I knew things weren't right, and I kept going until I got the check.... If nothing else, this jerk spent money FEDEX-ing me his fake check!!!  I also got a name and address for the person he wanted me to wire the money to!  It's amazing the trouble people will go to to avoid getting a real job. So sad!
