We had 2 similar issues reported at our company today. One call was from a 207 area code but the caller ID that came through was this 678 number. A similar incident occurred with the caller ID showing 4042600992, but that call was placed from a user in the 303 area code.  Shenanigans!

Yes my dad has called me from his landline in south Alabama twice and (almost didn't answer) because of these strange phone numbers. I've gotten the 404 and the 678 area code numbers as his phone number. Crazy!

678 is an Atlanta GA area code. I do not answer calls from out-of-area numbers unless they are in my contact list. A voicemail was left from my Urologist's office in Pueblo CO about a prescription. I called them back and asked why my caller ID showed 678-365-0480 instead of their office number (Area Code 719). They were not sure, but said that their phones go through the local hospital phone system, Parkview Medical Center of Pueblo CO.

Ditto to your comments.  Even down to the phone and almost the same number of blocked calls.

I am wondering if it may have something to do with the carrier. I am using Comcast for my landline and just received an "Eat Here" caller id with this telephone number and no message.

Received a call from this number. The Caller ID said "Eat Here".  When I answered, the male caller asked for a person who used to own the home I live in, but never lived with me, and didn't have the same phone number.  Now THAT is strange.  The number is now blocked.  Gotta be some kind of scam ... just not sure what they are up to ...

I'm having the same caller id spoof issues.  This is terrible,  from 678 and 404 reported by the other posters.

Just got a call from these guys...they said my computer was connected to their server and my Windows softwear was sending some bad information to their servers.  They asked me to turn on my computer and they would give me a link so they could access my computer and show me all the messages coming across to them from my computer.  Then they would help me fix it.  I listened and listened...then asked "Do you think I'm stupid to let you or anyone else into my computer?  What is the name of your company?  Who do you work for?  Why are you really calling me..so you can get into my computer?"  and they promptly hung up.  I called back the number and heard that the number was disconnected.  What a scam...be very careful!!

The caller ID said "Event Reminder."   I answered and they asked for my son.  I said that he wasn't home--they hung up

Phone # 678-365-0480, Event Reminder.  Didn't answer, no message left.  Getting phone blocker next week, can hardly wait!!!!

Can we sue the FCC/phone companies on the grounds of mental cruelty?

#678-365-0480 Event Reminder. Answered and got a pitch to put solar collectors on my roof at no cost and reduce my electric bill 30 to 50%. I let him (with his bad english) go on and on, I was on speaker phone and could work and only had to speak every so often. When he asked if he could have someone come out to talk to me about it. It was then I said I don't know where they would put the collectors because I have collectors on my roof. He said "you have a solar system!?" I do and said so. click! I just wish I had said OK and had some one come by and explain to them I am on a do not call list and will continue to inconvenience any way I can.

As for getting 30 to 50% reduction in the electric bill, that's BS. I purchased mine and do very well but know several people that went for the free install and say they only get a 10 to 12% reduction. OK for no investment, I suppose.

I received a call from 678-365-0480. Caller ID showed: Event Reminder.
I answered the phone (usually don't) and an automated voice said something about the information being put out by my computer and that I should press 1 to speak to a Microsoft representative.
I hung up.

Caller claimed to be microsoft engineer who wanted to repair a computer problem. I knew of the scam, and played along, asing him what country he was calling fom. "nigeria" was the response. I asked him why someone in nigeria was offering to fix my computer

I got a call from this number today, the caller id was 'EVENT REMINDER', answered it as I was not thinking , it was a call from my sister in England on her landline!, Why did their info come up when I usually get "UNITENTIFIED CALLER" then +44 followed by her number. A bit of a mystery

As they had just called my landline, I assumed this call was from iYogi, who have been calling me for months. They first call my landline, then my cell, one right after the other.  When I checked the caller ID, this was the number that came up, unknown. Obviously, no message was left.

No voice mail.  I blocked number.

They called after I got a microsoft error on my computer, said they were tech support calling about an error on my computer and accessed my computer to show me the error, they went through a process on my comp that showed me the virus, they said it would cost me a yearly fee to fix the issue. I told them I could not afford that and I would have my friend (computer wizard) fix it, they said ok and that was fine, told me to have a good day and hung up. Now I'm not sure what to do. I looked the # up on google and found out its a scam. Confused.
