I don't answer calls I don't reconize, I looked up the number on the internet and it is an unlisted number. If it was a legal business, why would it be unlisted. Don't answer the phone if this number is on your caller ID.

I also do not answer calls from unknown sources.  Very frustrating when it only rings four times and does not even go to the answerphone.  I have now blocked this number.

1st call from them today, and I did not answer, thought I'd look it up on Google first. Google listed this site, and I have the same fellings as those above.

Followup on this number..., since I still get calls from them, including one this morning.  More Google searches with "FFA".  I suspect it is the FFA/PaySmart of Georgia, which is a direct debit/phonecard/company.  I wonder if the common thread is either international travel (I recently went to Central America), or Pokerstars.com, where one has to use offshore methods to fund one's account.  I don't think it's a collection agency, but it's primary website is a dead link.  I think we should all be weary of this number, and insure that you don't have a phone modem connected to your PC on the same line this calls in on.  Just a hunch.

OK, I answered just a moment ago.  I got a recorded message that said " This is the fund raising center.  We're sorry we were unable to reach you.  We will try to contact you later".  I now suspect it has to do with the Georgia State Patrol, or Sheriff's or some other law enforcement faux-organization, to which I once contributed, but got so many additional spam calls I told 'em never to call again.

Budman, thank you for that info.  I just ignored a call from 678-846-0512/Gaffa and it led me here.  Your info is useful.  I did the same thing as you.  Last year I gave to Police and Fire thru phone solicitations and have regretted it ever since because they must have sold my number.  Pretty soon I was getting phone calls all the time from all over the area.  Now I know to keep ignoring this one!

I think Gaffa is Georgia Fire Fighters Association. I donated to the police at the beginning of the year. I then started getting calls from the firefighters. I think that this is the number that they called me from.

Calls 7 days a week and have gotten these for 3 long months. If anyone knows who they are and how to get them to stop, please let me know!!!

We have been getting calls from this number for months.  When I called them back, I got a recorded message, asking me to leave my phone number and a customer-service rep. would return my call.  I didn't leave my number.  One time, I answered the call and told them to stop calling me, and the person hung up on me.

The number called and the caller ID said GAFFA.  same 678-846-0512.  I also donated to the fraternal order of police maybe a month ago.  So far only one call from this number.  I usually dont answer calls I dont know but with so many friends out of town I figured maybe they were calling from someone elses house, when I answered no one said anything and then it just went dead with that beep beep beep as if they hung up on me after I answered.  I dont know but it does not sit well with me.  If they did sell the number then they can forget any future donations from me and I willg et my number changed tomorrow and get it unlisted.  If they call again the number will be blocked.  But I will def. keep this site on my favorites just to keep anyone updated on this and if you guys could do the same it would be awesome

went to a reverse phone detective website.  Wanted to go ahead and buy the info to be able to find outthe full report but in all honesty has me too paranoid to do so.  

Also as I was reading some of the posts out loud to my Boyfrind he also mentioned how he has also dontaed to the fire fighters as well.  So... yea, whats going on?

I received a call this morning from GAFFA.  I did not answer. I looked up GAFFA on Google, and the listings are for GSFFA.org. (Georgia STATE Firefighters Association). However, it could very well be the same association.  I may pursue this and call them to see if their fundraisers are using GAFFA for their caller ID.  I really wonder how much of this fundraising is legitimate. We don't give to anyone who calls.

they call repeatedly, refuse to take me off their list.  They claim to be calling for the Georgia State Firefighters Association; when I asked GSFA is this was true, they said they have no knowledge or relationsship with GFFA.  I have filed a complaint with the National Fraud Bureau and will see what happens.
I asked the rep who called me to explain why the GSFA didn't know them, asked who was lying to me, his response was 'Not us', so i guess GAFFA's story is that the firefighters in Georgia are lying so-and-so's.

Since they call for "non-profit" organizations they don't have to abide by the no-call listing.  I get these calls ALL the time, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day.  After 9PM at night, before 8AM, even on Sundays.  Giving doesn't stop it either, they just call again and say it's been 3 whole months since you gave.  I get calls for Sheriff's department, Firefighters, injured police.  I'm not a cold hearted person, but I can't give to everyone!  Don't these city workers have insurance policies for when they get injured?  Don't my tax dollars pay for those things?  I feel used and abused!  I can't stop the calls.  I just don't answer anymore.  I'm about ready to disconnect my landline to get rid of the incessant money begging callers.

My daughter recceived a call from this number. She told them I was still at work, and asked who was calling.  The lady on the line said to tell me it was a courtesy call.  This is odd, because I recently donated to the Sheriff department.  I would not donate over the phone, I have them mail the donation request to me.  It looked legit.  But I did not recognize this number on my caller ID.  I took the suggestion above and blocked the number.

this fool has called and called and called!  thye call early in the morning and all through the day.  when you pick-up and hang-up they call back, but you can't call their # back.  How do you block it or get it to stop?

If you get your number unlisted, remember anyone that knows your name can call 411 or operator and they will gived it to them.  If you want to stop anyone from obtaining your number this way the number has to be Private.  The phone company will tell an inquirer they have no such customer.

My elderly mother-in-law gave these ^&%^@# $10 and they will not stop calling even after being told to stop.  They just will not stop and i am fed up! The same male wanted to argue with me over the legality of his calls and stated "Well, it is not illegal because it a business call"  I told him that he was wrong and he said "whatever man" and hung up.  He usually calls in the mornings just after i go to sleep after working night watch at the PD.  Today i will try to call them back and express my intentions of seeking an arrest warrant for harassing phone calls per Ga Law § 16-11-39.1.

PS. Never Never Never Never donate anything over the phone.  I'm a cop and we get this all the time.  One person called and was collecting money to buy cops bullet proof vests.  HE hung up when i told him that the police departments in Ga buy the vest for the officer if they want them.

If you would like to donate call your local Pd and ask to speak to a person who can handle that for you and get a receipt.  If you really want to donate to a cop come find me!!!!!
